The moment
She looks at this man. Old and battered. A warrior. A soldier.
A Doctor no more.
With eyes the darkest colour of a tempest to stare into the abyss, so brave.
And so defeated.
Destined to light the flame but not to carry it. A soul so foreign and so scarred – a shell and yet a living thing.
A mind that glows and dies and burns.
To heal and to defend.
Deep within she sees him still.
The one who mends what was long broken.
The one who runs, never to stand still.
He lingers now. Frozen, empty, searching. Two hearts that cry but can't be heard.
She reaches out, one hand to find the other, as her warmth is seeking out the cold.
And she wishes she could tell, could show him all that he will see.
But dormant lies the Wolf within and silent is the howling.
She's left to be all that remains - the Goddess turned a human - can only be to him herself.
All that she was. All she will ever be.
A flicker in the stream of time, a constant yet – a light to guide the last one of his kin.
She watched him die. Will watch him be re-born.
In the heart of the night she is at his side, knows of all the things that are to come because she can remember.
And she tells him never to forget as he sets the seal on all their doom, smiles but keeps a secret just what he must recall.
A part of him will always know although it meets her silence.
Will find the Wolf and take her home.
To lead her here. To where their fates entwine.
Her past.
His future.
To become one.
The moment that he turns the tide.

A/N: Just to avoid any confusions: I know that the first trailer and her way of speaking suggest that Rose is either the Bad Wolf (or a projection of it) or even something entirely different. However, personally I enjoy the thought of her actually being herself (or at least, of her consciousness being active) when she's with the War Doctor.
additional: So this is clearly an AU drabble now since the Rose we saw was indeed just a projection and the War Doctor didn't have to use the time lock after all. Oh well.
