"Take it from me: If you hear the past speaking to you, feel it tugging up your back and running its fingers up your spine, the best thing to do-the only thing-is run." ― Lauren Oliver, Delirium

It started out as an ordinary foggy autumn day in the town of Storybrooke, Maine. Well, as ordinary a day as one can expect from a town full of fairy tale characters. The Ice Queen had recently been defeated, Elsa and Anna were reunited, and everything almost seemed peaceful in the small town. But the quiet moments were few and far between for the inhabitants of the small town.

It was daybreak as the shrill sound of her phone ringing woke Emma Swan. She groaned as she reached for the cell on her nightstand and answered with a gruff "Sheriff Swan speaking." as she stifled a yawn. She still had an hour before her alarm went off and she had to start her day.

"We got a big problem, sister." It was Leroy. Emma groaned, she knew his calls always contained some form of bad news. "There was an explosion down at the docks."

"I'll be right there." She replied.

Emma dressed as quickly as possible in a pair of black skinny jeans and a grey t-shirt. She grabbed her red leather jacket as she headed out the door of her parents loft and locked the door behind her. She pushed her yellow bug to the limit and made it to the docks in record time.

She grabbed her gun from the glove box and placed it into the holster at her hip. As she stepped out of the car her phone slipped out of her pocket and landed on the seat of her car. Emma made her way towards the small crowd had formed near the old abandoned warehouse.

Leroy stepped forward as she got closer to the group. "It's about time you got here!"

"Where was the explosion?" Leroy pointed to the old warehouse. The building looked just as it had the last time she was out here. There was no smoke or any evidence that something was wrong. "Was anyone inside?"

"I don't think so." Came the reply from someone in the crowd. Emma motioned for everyone to stay back as she made her way towards the building, her hand reached for the gun at her hip.

She pushed open the door to the warehouse and called out "Is everything alright." There was no answer. Emma raised her gun and stepped inside the abandoned building. As she crossed the threshold a gust of cold wind slammed the door shut behind her. Emma quickly turned around and cursed as she heard the lock click, trapping her inside. She tried to push open the door but it would not budge. She reached into her pocket for her phone so she could call for help, but her pockets were empty.

Emma spent the next several minutes banging on the door and calling to Leroy or anyone who could open the door from the outside. Just as she was about to give up she heard the lock go once again and the door was pushed open from the outside.

"Thank good…" Emma cut herself short as she stepped out of the warehouse and out into the sunlight and onto the deck of what looked to be a large ship surrounded by the ocean. "Where am I?" She wondered aloud.

A young man cleared his throat and when Emma turned to face him she was met with a pair of familiar deep blue eyes. "My name is Captain Liam Jones, and you are aboard my ship, the Jewel of the Realm."
