Give Me My Heart Back

Oh, what a dashing knight!
So pure is his appeal
His face, so clear, all free from blight
No hint or sign of fear

A smile will rarely grace his face
Yet still he can acquire
The passion of a woman's praise
Her love that burns like fire

His hair holds a midnight hue
And a tad bit of azure
His eyes are of the deepest blue
In par with gems, what allure!

When can I get this tasteful prince?
And hold him in my arms?
When can I kiss his luscious lips?
And past these shallow fawns?

In haste I sought a remedy,
For this covert lust for love;
No qualms despite the heresy,
Of this secret, heartfelt throb

Alas, such scorn have I received
From both him, and the world
It felt as if my heart was thieved
By lies and tales of old.
