This is for gajevy week 2015. Day 1: cooking. The cover art is done by ladykeyes and you can find her on here and on tumblr. This is also a little prequel to her day 5 fic.

Gajeel awoke that morning feeling deeply satisfied. So naturally his trademark smirk was on his face before he had even opened his eyes. And the sight of his sleeping wife easily explained the joyous feeling.

The early morning sun filtered through the window to give the woman next to him a pleasant glow and Gajeel propped himself up on an elbow to get a better look. Her blue hair was the only thing he could see of the woman's head as the rest of it was hidden by a pillow held firmly in place by a hand.

The first few times he discovered her doing that he thought she was going to suffocate herself and quickly ripped the pillow from her grasp in a panic. Only to be smacked with another for stealing her "sun blocker" away. He left the pillow alone now.

Levy stirred in her sleep, trying to get comfortable around the bulge in her midsection. The iron dragon slayer glanced to said bulge and gave a small chuckle at his next thought. That's my bun in the oven.

As if hearing his joke, Levy shifted out from under her pillow of protection and looked at him blearily. "What's so funny Gajeel?"

"Gihi. I was just thinkin' about the bun in the oven." His smirk grew as she looked at him in confusion. A hand slowly moved to rest against her stomach to get the idea across. The confused expression quickly turned to one of realization, the anger.

"Gajeel! This isn't really something to joke about," she gave him a halfhearted smack on the arm for the pun about the bun while Gajeel just let out another chuckle and pulled her close.

They were content to rest there in each other's arms for a while longer before starting the day but the very loud, and familiar, buzzing of the alarm knocked the two out of their serene mood.

With a grunt, Gajeel rose to a sitting position and slammed a heavy hand on the snooze bar, hopping to be able to get a few more minutes of peace. Yet by the time he turned back to bed his woman had already gotten up and was heading towards the closet to prepare for the day. "If you don't hurry up we'll be late to the doctor's."

Ah yes. Today Levy had scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound. After having her explain that it would tell what the baby's gender is Gajeel had been waiting for this day for weeks. And so he rose from bed without much more complaint. After dressing he made his way to the kitchen with one thought on his mind.

Whatever gender it is, we're naming it Metalcanna.
