A/N: This is a birthday fic for halcyon epochs. It's 626 words.
"Are you ashamed of me, Ginny? Is that why you don't your family to know about us?" Pansy asked wiping tear from her eyes.
The argument about telling the Weasley family had started again after Ginny had pushed Pansy into the guest bedroom when George had turned up unexpectedly.
"I'm not ashamed of you, I promise," she said closing the gap between them and cupping Pansy's cheek. "I'm just scared about how they will react. They don't even know I like women, let one the fact that I'm dating one."
"You're family is one of the most accepting I have ever known. I'm sure that they would be happy for you," Pansy said sniffling.
"I know they are, but I'm still afraid to do it," Ginny confessed.
"Why don't we go slowly then? You introduce me to them as your friend and after awhile you tell them that we're a couple," Pansy suggested.
"You'd be okay with that?" she asked.
"I would prefer to tell them the truth, but I can deal with them thinking I'm just your friend for a little while."
"Thank you, Pansy. I love you," Ginny said kissing her lightly on the lips.

A couple of weeks passed since their argument, and Molly had insisted that Ginny go the the Burrow for a family dinner. She thought that it was the perfect time to introduce Pansy to them properly and asked her mum if she would bring a friend.
"Are you ready, Ginny?" Pansy asked.
"As ready as I can be," she replied taking the other girls hand and Apparated her side-along just outside the wards.
They walked up to the house in almost silence, but each could tell that the other was nervous.
They could hear everyone talking as they walked up to the house and the noise was almost deafening as they stepped through the door.
"Hello, Ginny. It's good to see you dear, and who have you brought with you today?" she asked hugging her daughter and turning to Pansy.
"Mum this is Pansy, my girlfriend," she replied bravely.
It seemed as if everyone had heard the news as the room went silent.
"Why did you never tell us dear?" Molly asked softly.
"I didn't know what you'd say," Ginny told her.
"You silly girl," she chided gently pulling Ginny in for a hug. "We only want to see you happy, and if that's with a girl and not a boy then that's okay. Never think we would stop loving you because of it."
"Thank you, mum," Ginny said tearfully.
"So, how long have you two been together?" Molly asked looking at Pansy.
"Six months," Pansy replied.
"Well, it's about time you met the family then," she said leading Pansy to the table and introducing everyone.
The rest of the night flew by, and apart from the odd insult from Ron, everybody seemed to be supportive. All of them had soothed Ginny's fears about being rejected and George even offered to give her tips which earned him a clipped ear from their mother.
After saying goodbye the couple walked back to the apparition point talking and laughing, but before the went home Pansy started to say, "Gin, you didn't have to do that. I'm sorry if you felt that I pushed you the other week. I shouldn't have-"
Ginny cut off Pansy with a kiss.
"It was the push I needed, Pansy. I have to be honest with myself and them, and you made me realise that. Hiding our relationship has only hurt you and I can't keep seeing you upset," Ginny told her after breaking the kiss.
"I love you," Pansy said looking into her eyes.
"I love you too," Ginny replied before taking them back home.
