An Array of Colors by LahnnaMarie

The flower girl looked into the greenness. It swirled around her naked body in clouds of haze. She began to feel her body again as she looked at her hands. They glowed with a trim of sparkle, it reminded her of eyes. His eyes.

'No, I must be confused somehow.' There was no doubt she felt something for him. 'He killed you'. She shook her head. So this is what is felt like to be Cloud, always fighting yourself. Aeris knew what love was, but you can't love a stranger. 'No, you could never love a stranger.' But he wasn't a stranger, Sephiroth was the man who killed her. She looked around; she thought she could hear another voice.

He looked through the Lifestream's glow around him. The last things he had thought about before Cloud's sword had punctured his heart were light brown and green. Plus the smallest fragrance of flowers. Sephiroth touched a trickling river of scarlet copper on his chest. 'If I keep following the voices in my head, I'll never get home.' He stopped. 'Where is home..?'

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him, but what was he doing here? Aeris looked down at his chest and she gasped. There was a deep gash across his chest. Then she knew. 'Cloud, why have you killed such a beautiful creature.?'

He looked back at the flower girl he had killed so long ago. Sephiroth looked around; it was just him, the fallen angel, and her, the last of the Cetra.

Aeris walked up to him and looked into his eyes. 'He's beautiful, but he has killed so many people. Innocent people. and he killed me..' Yet still she felt a twinge of longing and deep emptiness.

Sephiroth looked down at her as the Lifestream's clouds wrapped around the two green eyed enigmas. 'How could someone be heartless enough to kill this flawless creature?' It was clear to him now. 'Mother.' He felt a surge of anger. Jenova had blocked him from every emotion on the Earth, and from an angel, but he knew she couldn't do that now. He wrapped his arms around her to pull her close.

She felt unlocked and at once her emptiness was filled by a different green light. Aeris put her hands behind the fallen angel's back to where his wings would have been and began to squeeze him tightly..

Sephiroth finally felt content. He reached behind her and began to untie her braided strands, as his other hand lightly drew her chin up to his face. Then, he began to explore the room behind her lips.

For the first time in her life she did not hold back in fear of doing the wrong thing. An angel had finally heard her prayers.

He had searched for the Promise Land for his whole life above the world's surface but had never thought he would find it underneath the Planet's thick skin. But from then on, he no longer cared; he had finally found home..

And so this is where the fallen angel and the last of the Cetra stand, in an array of silver and light brown, but to be unbalanced by the glow of a green light. This is where they stand now, and will stand for the rest of eternity, egged on by the sound of one another's heartbeats.
