The sun was starting to get annoying, bright beams hitting him in the face from gaps in the curtains. Why did morning always come too early? Slowly, Renji yawned, rolled over to his back and stretched out his tired body. With his hands above his head, he lay for a few moments, giving the new day time to sink in. He knew Ichigo would pop by during the morning in time for their morning training, but as it was his day off, he didn't see the need to crawl away from the pillows quite yet. Scratching his head, he tried to think of when he last had been granted a whole day off like this, without papers to take care of, missions to participate in or squad-members to keep in place. It had been far too long. So for now he's just stay lazily in his bed, naked, day-dreaming and content.
After what he guessed to be an hour or s, sharp knocks on the door suddenly snapped him out of his light slumber. Ichigo was well early, wasn't he? Damn impatient humans, always rushing around.
"It's open, just get in!"
Hell, Ichigo had seen him naked before, he'd just grab his uniform on the way out of bed.
"The door is fucking open, get the hell inn here would ya?"
Irritated at the damn substitube shinigami's slow actions, he jumped out of bed and managed to loudly stomp into the middle of the room before the door opened. And then he froze. Just a few steps away, was his taichou. A rather baffled look and a wide open mouth, but still the well-known uniform and the long black hair. It was him allright; Kuchiki Byakuya. Eye to eye they stood there for a few seconds, before Byakuya regained his normal and questioning face, and Renji cursed out loud and leaped behind the closest curtains he could find. Oh. Shit. How was he supposed to explain this to his taichou?
"Abarai Renji-fukutaichou. Although aware of your roots in Rukongai, I do expect you to behave civilized when inviting a taichou into your home. I came here to ask of your enlightenment in where the latest documents you've handled for the squad might be, but I clearly see that it is not a task fit for you today. We will speak another time."
With that, the noble captain abruptly turned around and disappeared into the sunlight. Left behind was a muttering redhead, blushing, cursing and clenching his curtains so hard his knuckles turned white. Minutes crawled by, and slowly the confusion in his eyes started to fade. What the hell had just happened?
Ironically, those were the exact same words uttered by Kurosaki Ichigo, as he strolled in through the open door of his friends little apartment.
"Hey Renji, why is your door open? You'd think you-"
For some reason, his good morning-greeting stopped at that, as he stared into the eyes of a buck-naked fukutaichou, halfway hidden in some red and yellow curtains and with a face red as his messed up hair.
"The hell?"
