Old Friends, Old Wounds

Chapter 1: Gerudo Queen

Link slowly approached Gannon's Castle, his heart heavy with what he had to tell his friend Rapaza. He proceeded into the castle which was strangely unguarded. He walked into a large throne room where two women in a dark purple robe with a spear stood about five feet away from the throne. "Uh, you guys don't happen to know where Queen Rapaza is, do you?" He asked awkwardly. "I believe that the boy is asking us where Lady Rapaza is." The one who wore her bright red hair in a tight, high ponytail. "I agree. Should we tell him? It is highly probable based off of the emotion in his face that he has previous connections with our fair princess. Besides Nyru, I would hardly call him a boy. He's at least seventeen." The other one who had curly red hair that fell all the way to her waist. "Wait, how did you… never mind. Where's Rapaza?" Link said, surprised the Gerudo woman knew his exact age. Ponytail lady began to say, "Lady Rapaza is-"she was cut off by a familiar voice. "I'm right here." It was Rapaza, who stood on the table between the two thrones. "Nyru, Gyru, leave us! I need to talk to him alone." She said with a deadly glare. The two women quickly left the room, leaving Link and the young queen alone. "So, what'd you come here to do? Kill me, too?!" She angrily shouted as she hopped down from the table. "Rapaza, I'm sorry. Your brother would have destroyed the world if I hadn't… you know…" Link said, realizing this conversation would be more difficult than assumed. "You what? Murdered him!?" Rapaza snapped. "Rapaza, please. I didn't want anybody to get hurt-""Accept Gannondorf, the only other living relative I had. Is that how it is, duties before simple humanity?" "He was going to kill us all!" "He was my brother!" Rapaza sighed and sat on the floor, her back to the Hero of Time. "If I were anybody else, I would have thought the demise of Gannondorf was a sheer miracle, but I'm not anybody else. I am a sixteen year old princess, who had nothing to worry about because her brother decided to take the initiative and rule the kingdom. I'm not saying I agree with everything he did, but he made one little slip-up and now you want to kill him!? Now look at me. I have no idea whatsoever to run a kingdom, I'm not ready to run a kingdom, I might not ever be ready to run a kingdom, Impa nor Zelda will speak to me because of the incident so I can't even get some decent counsel and everybody expects me to go on my merry way as if my world wasn't just shattered by my one friend in the world. That can make a girl really, really angry." She said, clenching her fists. "Rapaza, you need some time away from Gerudo to take your mind of things. Remember, I'm here for you." He said, moving closer to her. "DON'T COME NEAR ME!" she cried. "You cold-blooded MURDERER!" she shouted as she stormed out of the room. "I'm sorry, Rapaza."
