Chapter 1
"It's ok Rory, breathe"I hear a voice say as they put a rubber gloved hand on my side. I don't know whats going on but I have a sneaking suspicion that something happened and now my peers are treating me. I hate being the paitent more than anything in the world, as a nurse i'm use to treating people not being treated myself. A pain pulses through my right side, hinting that I have appendicitis, as I feel like i'm going to puke for the thousandth time, "I'm going to be sick"i say my voice croaky from non use. Vomit splatters on the floor as the nurse grabs a bed pan to help me finish, funny thought i've done this for other people many times and now I happen to be the one in that position. After i'm done someone lays me on my back, and my first reaction is to roll on my side because it hurts so much, but I know I can't because I need to let the doctor feel my stomach. The first thought I have is that someone needs to tell my wife, someone needs to tell Ames, so I decide to ask, "Has anyone called my wife yet", "Oi, we did awhile ago she's coming"a nurse responds.
The doctor finishes my examination and leaves the room telling the nurse to call for xray. With nothing to do I stare blankly at the white ceiling tiles, nervous, my breath getting more and more in sync with the machine that beeps telling my heart rate. Now I know what it feels like to be that paitent, to be the paietnet who's scared, who doesn't know if they're going to be ok, in pain waiting for family to come and comfort. Time passes slowly until eventually the curtain pulls open and a nurse, who I know by the name of trish, comes in, "Ok Rory, we're going to get you to xray and see wahts going on, then we'll go from there alright"She says, "yeah, has somone got a hold of my wife yet"I ask, "yes, she's on her way, you can see her in a bit"she says. The bed moves and she takes me to the elevator, and we ride down to xray. We stay silent the whole time , never speaking, not even when she lifts me with help from the gurney to the table for the xray. They put the machine over my stomach and leave the room, the machine starts whirring. It eventually clicks and I realize how tired I am, as I close my eyes and fall asleep.
