Yggdra lay on the wood and metal that crossed over the water, her legs dangling over the edge, water splashing up to tickle her toes. She enjoyed the feeling of the warm sun and the cold water, and that was all that mattered to her. Perhaps others would considered that as close-minded or selfish, but she didn't understand why it would be - after all, she was only seven years old and still thought that everything was beautiful.
She opened one eye to look at her arms. Her pale skin was starting to become a bit red. Someone would probably scold her for it later, but she didn't want to deal with that now. Everyone went into a panic whenever she wasn't in the castle anyway, even if it was only for a few minutes, so she might as well enjoy what little time she had to herself. She lazily sucked on a sweetberry with her eyes closed and continued to lie there undisturbed.
A shadow swept over her and she reluctantly opened her eyes, expecting a servant here to take her back inside. Instead, it was some man, a stranger. "Excuse me, but I need to get through here."
She sat up, her arms covering her body as she stared at the man as he passed around her. He wore dark and heavy-looking robes, but somehow she could tell that he was skinny and didn't fit into his clothes. A hood was pulled over his eyes, but she could see his exhausted and weak smile, his pale and nearly translucent skin, his thin blond hair that hung at the edge of his face. He looked up and nodded, murmuring breathlessly "It's a nice day, don't you think?"
She didn't respond and turned away, not wanting to look at him any longer. After a moment's pause, he turned to go down the bridge. The image of him was all that she could see in her head, and she shuddered. The world seemed to shudder with her. She looked at the sky with a frown, seeing grey clouds gathering overhead.
"Did I do something wrong?"
She rolled onto her side, the man was out of sight. Rain dripped onto her cheek, the water suddenly feeling a bit too cold for her tastes.
"…Why do I feel like I need to be rescued?"
