I don't really need a disclaimer for this one, seeing as none of the characters are directly mentioned. However, the little boy with the pinecones reminded me of Remus, which is why this is under the Harry Potter category.

The End of Time,

or

A Prelude to Remus

we are standing on the end of

Time

the circle has met its course,

and it is dry and brittle

a thin coating of nail polish

coos

to show what once was thought

it wraps itself around the shell…

for that is what time has become,

a skeleton of life,

a skeletal leaf –

aren't leaves beautiful?

…and embraces its meaning

our meaning,

us little girls in cloaks:

who knew these nights would last so long

(I never did

I never did

I never did)

with that last understanding,

the shell cracks,

sending cool ammonia onto other things that do not part with time;

boredom, perhaps,

or twenty pain killers

the weeds strangling plastic fire trucks

where a lonely boy has placed pinecones:

one

two

three

four

and my Burdened friend scrawls in red sharpie

to prove her double meaning –

nay, a doubled cause –

"Stay –

someone out there

loves you after all"

Time crumbles.
