Fall of Greenwood

As a shadow in the night it came,
To lay it's evil shroud upon the wood,
Casting into darkness what was light,
Etching fear into the hearts of life.

Further on and deeper still it crept,
Carried onwards by the winds of fear,
Feeding off corruption of great souls,
Bringing death to all who ventured there.

Long they sought it, hard they tried to fight,
But too far had the hand of evil spread,
And all the light fled hither from this place,
A dark and murky wood left in it's wake.

Yet still they fight it and they always shall,
Until the evil cries out in defeat,
When shadow is consumed again by light,
This forest shall again be tall and great.
