Once again I must say that I don't own the Harry Potter Universe. It belongs to a hoard of other people.

It was Sunday morning and Sirius Black was still locked in his room. He and his friends, James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew were all meeting in Diagon Alley in a few hours and he had no way to get there. There was always the Floo but he didn't want to chance getting caught. Flying wasn't an option because it was sunny out. And neither was a Portkey because it was illegal to make one of those even if you were of age. That left the Knight Bus. He wasn't looking forward to that.

The first problem was getting out of his room. Any way he looked at it; he was trapped. The House Elf was the only being he had seen for three days. It was lucky that he still had some control over the elf so he could get an owl to send letters to his friends. But he knew that one day that would end.

The second problem was Kreacher. He came to the room once an hour to confirm that he was still there. But his timing was sporadic. There was no telling when he would come back. But that would be easily overcome.

The third and last problem was money. He had a little but not enough for supplies. He knew that James' mum would be willing to help him, but as a Black, he had an independent streak. He had to make it on his own.

He looked at the supplies that he had in his room; a bobby pin that he stole from Lily Evans, twenty Galleons, fourteen Sickles and five Knuts, and a shrunken trunk (his mother's doing) that held his school equipment. He would have Mr. or Mrs. Potter un-shrink it later.

It was Sirius' luck that his parents and brother weren't home when he put the pin in the lock. It gave him more time to escape. About fifteen minutes after ten Kreacher entered Sirius' room. Two seconds after he was gone, the pin was in the keyhole. Three minutes after that the door was open. Sirius Black was free.

He quickly went to his parents' bedroom and crawled under the bed. One of the floorboards was loose and his father kept some gold under it. He didn't take much; just enough to last him the school year. He knew he was running out of time so he left the room faster than he entered it.

The Floo was still too dangerous. He didn't want to be traced. The Knight bus was the only option. Boy was he in for a rough morning.

He walked a few blocks before calling the bus... just in case. He mainly ignored the over enthusiastic Ernie Prang and went to the top floor after saying he was going to he Leaky Cauldron.

He pulled out his mirror and called James.

"Hey, I'm on my way to Diagon Alley." The bus made a swift turn that threw Sirius out of his chair. "Well, I think I'll make it."

"You're on the bus, aren't you? I never thought I'd see the day when a Black takes the bus."

"Laugh it up rich boy. One day you'll have to take the Knight bus as well."

"I can't wait to tell the others about this."

"If you tell you will die. Under no circumstances are you to tell Remus and Peter."

"Alright I promise I won't tell. See you soon Sirius."

"See you, rich boy."
