A/N: I know i am still working on my other story but this muse hit me and just would not go away ;)
I dont have a beta so mistakes are all my own.
"It's what my parents did." Ron was whining "It is not old-fashioned and we have dated for five years, getting soul bound when we get married is the proper way to do things."
Hermione cringed. She loved Ron but being soul bound for eternity made her stomach clinch in fear.
People change during their lives and she was not sure that forever with Ron would be best for her but, she had accepted his proposal three years earlier and kept putting off the wedding with various excuses, now with a masters in arithmacy and charms and a permanent job in curse breaking and protection charms, there were no reasons left to not get married now.
She loved the Weasley's dearly Molly and Arthur were a perfect couple and loved all their children, they were such good parents and Hermione felt safe and loved in their home.
Her own parents had pulled away and did not keep in contact as much since Hermione had fixed their memories, they felt hurt and scared and did not understand the wizarding world. They still loved their daughter, but did not talk as much any more.
Molly and Arthur and Ron were safe and welcoming and comforting.
Hermione knew she would have a good life within this family.
"It only works if the two people do, or will love each other" Ron laughed, "it's not as if anyone can just perform the ceremony".
"Fine, Ron, ok" she sighed, giving in again to Ron's demands
Ron smiled and nodded "Good" he said "you'll see it's for the best" he left to go tell his parents the good news.
The wedding was just a week away and the Weasleys had invited half the wizarding world to the "War Heroes wedding" .. most of it had been donated or paid for by other people, delighted to see them finally settle down, the cakes, venue and minister had all been offered for free.. the insane publicity from the wedding would be payment enough for them.
The dress had been the only thing Hermione had paid money for, her floor length ivory robes with gold trim with a small train had been specially made, Molly offered Hermione her family heirloom dress, but she wanted her own, Ginny could fulfil that dream of Mollys, Hermione wanted her dress to be unique and designed especially for her.
The only thing left was to pick up the wedding rings and choose the hand fasting ribbons.
Hermione chose dark royal blue for loyalty, gold for fidelity, dark green for respect and silver for true love.
Her wedding ring she had designed herself, Ron had wanted them to design each other's rings, but Hermione knew if she let him do that, she would have a gaudy big ruby and diamond nightmare to wear, and she wanted a delicate ring, that symbolised her, a simple gold band engraved inside with the arithmacy equation for true love. Deep down, she was a romantic at heart and wanted to have deep, powerful meaningful love. The kind that hurts when you were apart. She figured her and Ron's love was new and this would come when she was married.
The week flew in and on the morning of the wedding Molly came to Hermione's room, hugged her, cried and gave her a family heirloom bracelet to borrow for the day. "You are making the right decision" Molly had said "soul bound couples have very happy marriages... you just need to believe in your heart that Ron is the one"
"I know Molly" Hermione smiled and hugged the older woman "I hope he is"
Hermione held the piece of parchment with the Latin incantation Ron had given her that she was to read, having memorised the words, although when she had checked the spelling, the part that read "bind our souls together" had been miss spelled .. typical Ron she had thought, and she had changed it accordingly.
The largest wedding room available at the Ministry of Magic was packed full, reporters, photographers, teachers, friends, family, extended family, well wishers. So full, that guests were standing around the perimiter, excited about the biggest wedding in recent history, which would only be overshadowed when Harry Potter himself got married.
The Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt was performing the ceremony, he stood at the altar shaking hands with Ron, who was dressed smartly in the finest black robes, a white shirt and red cravat, his red hair spiked slightly and a beaming smile on his face.
A hushed silence overcame the entire hall when 'Salut d'Amour' by Edward Elgar started playing.
Sunlight beamed in through the high windows as the main doors opened and Hermione walked in, her arm around her fathers arm. Her dress flowed around her body, shimmering, a simple, small, gold and pearl tiara adorned her head, her hair falling in light brown ringlets just passed her shoulders, a small veil hanging from the back of the tiara, not long enough to cover her hair at the back which cascaded down her back, slightly longer than the front, little dasies dotted through her hair, her feet bare, to signify the divine ancient magic to be conjured during this ceremony.
Hermione's dad kissed his daughter and shook Ron's hand, nodding his acceptance and handing his daughter over to Kingsley. Ron smiled at Hermione as she nervously clasped her hand in front of her.
Kingsley started "Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two faithful souls..Your rings will seal the vows of marriage and represent a promise for everlasting love. This is a physical manifestation of the promises joining the bride and groom together."
Hermione placed her chosen ring in Kingsleys hand, Ron done the same, opting for a plain yellow gold band Hermione noticed with relief.
Kingsley placed the rings on the altar "These rings will magically attach themselves when the ceremony is complete"
He then turned to Hermione, "As this is a soul binding ceremony, the lady must go first, giving herself freely" Do you Hermione?, is it your wish that your soul will be bound today?
Hermione felt a sweep of nausea overcome her and she nervously looked around the gigantic crowd. Arthur Weasley looked at her, a slight sadness in his eyes, beside him, Molly Weasley enthusiastically nodded waving her hands "Say yes dear" Hermione heard her say.
"Emm" Hermione said, a feeling of dread starting to overcome her.
Ron nudged her side and she looked at him "You are taking too long, everyone is waiting, come one hurry up and say yes"
Hermione felt embarrassment flush on her face "yes" she muttered looking at the floor
Kingsley put a reassuring hand on Hermiones arm "everyone is nervous at this stage"
Hermione was not sure, but there was no way she could back out now. She raised her head more confidently.
"Hermione will now read the incantation", Kingsley continued "Ron only needs to agree when he feels the magic sweep over him and into his heart, to make the binding complete"
Ron rubbed his sweaty hands, a 'Yes' ready as soon as Hermione finished reading.
Hermione took a deep breath, reciting her incantation
"Te amo , Ab imo pectore, Una in perpetuum, Semper fidelis , Amor gignit amorem, Etiam in morte, sempiternus superest amor , In aeternum te amabo, Tuus perdite sodalis amans". Hermione stated clearly.
("I love you, from the bottom of my heart, together forever, always faithful, love creates love, in death, eternal love survives, I will love you for all eternity, Your ever loving soul mate")
"Noooooooo" Molly Weasley screamed.. "it's Anima alliges duplicia" bind our souls.. "Sodalis amans" is ...soul mate.
Hermione felt a warmth surround her body a bright glow shot out across the room, she felt the bond being accepted and the ring appear on her ring finger before dizziness overcame her and she passed out.
