Finding the Obvious
by: Yoshida Megumi
I really am forced to wonder when this all happened. I only know for certain that both of my best friends have missed it completely. It's so unlike her to not pay attention to detail. And as for him, well, he's him and that's all that can be expected. I am also forced to wonder if either of them has any inkling as to what is happening. They both seem rather oblivious, but I'm sure that they're both just playing it off as being best friends. If they could only see themselves from where I'm sitting they'd be shocked, I'm sure. Hopefully it would knock some sense into one of them though.
She smiles at him in a way that would melt any man's heart. It's certainly done a number on mine, and I know for a fact that Seamus has fallen victim to it. But, it's definitely different when she smiles at him. The smile just seems to make her radiant. It's so tender and loving and caring and utterly trusting. Like she knows that he would never hurt her. That he would give everything he had, and perhaps more, to protect her.
And then he smiles back. It's a lighthearted smirk. It's enough to send most of the girls here to their knees, in fact, I can see Patil swoon from here. But unlike with her, his eyes convey that undying emotion. She because she's focused on her book now doesn't mean anything to him. He's giving her this tremendously hated gaze. It's filled with everything, his love for her, his trust in her, his absolute adoration of her, and his undying need for her. I know what that look means. It means exactly what her smile implied. That he would give everything he had, and more, to protect her. No matter the consequences.
I've see him give her that look before. I wish he would just tell her and be done with it. The entirety of Gryfindorr tower knows she won't refuse him. You could as any of them, even Neville knows. I think he was the one who pointed it out to Lavender. Oh what a moment that was. I don't think I've ever seen her gape like that before. She look rather beautiful and it was an utterly priceless moment.
In the time it took me to think that, I realize that she, and I don't mean Lavender, has caught my best friend's eye again. Not that there's anything unusual about that, he's always got his eye on her from what I've been able to tell lately. It's just that at this moment she's staring at him, her mouth hanging open just a little, her eyes wide. And then, just as suddenly as I realize that he is still giving her that look, I realize that she's smiling. And then they're kissing.
The common room has exploded now. Cheers and catcalls are ringing joyously throughout the room. All I can do is sit there and smile stupidly. And I think, finally Harry and Hermione have figured it out.

Author's Note: This is my first ever Harry Potter Fic, so be nice please. I think it's a little clichéd, but it's still cute, so I hope at least one person likes it. I guess that's it. Hope you enjoyed it.
Special Thanks: To Aiko-chan for beta reading this. Love you!
