I'm not sure whether I want to turn this into a chaptered story or not. What do you guys think?

As always, I do not own Homestuck.

The castle of gods is said to reside in a forest that has not yet been discovered. Near the edge of the forest is where the gods' guard resides during most of the year. This guard is also said to be a god – the Knight of Blood – but he cannot normally bear to see his peers; for what reason is a different story all on its own – the story of how the gods rose to power. This is a story for another time, however, and will not be explained here.

This god is said to visit the castle every once in a while, and during this time, he can usually be found with either his closest friends or his lover – the Seer of Mind – of whom remains faithful. While they only see each other a couple of times a month (as the Seer sometimes visits him), their love is said to remain passionate.

On one of these visits that the Knight makes to the castle, he found himself doing something he'd never thought he'd do with the Seer – dance. He wasn't extremely fond of the act, not to mention he wasn't normally very skilled at said action. He wasn't sure how they came to be doing such a thing, but, for once in quite a while, he found himself smiling, enjoying this moment of intimacy with the Seer. The Seer was also smiling, and her happiness only grew when she noticed the Knight smiling.

They talked quietly to each other – about their friends, their enemies, each other, and anything else that came to mind. However, they skipped over a certain person that held significance in both of their lives – a certain Bard that was friends with the Knight but bitter enemies with the Seer. They would talk about that later – no need to ruin what felt like such a perfect moment.

"Anything interesting happen here that I missed?" the Knight asked.

"Not really. It's been pretty boring, actually," the Seer replied. "What about out on the front?"

"Quiet as always," the Knight replied.

"Does that mean you can stay longer this time?" the Seer pleaded. As much as she knew he had a job to do, that didn't stop her from wanting to be able to see him without bother.

After a brief moment of hesitation, the Knight replied, "Fine, but if anything happens, it's your fault."

"I'll take full responsibility," the Seer agreed. She laughed then, her trademark smile never faltering.

The Knight's smile widened. It had been a long while since he'd visited the castle, but nothing had been happening that would keep him from doing so – why hadn't he come sooner?

Was it the fear and shame he felt when confronting one of his peers? Was it the doubt that they were still his friends? But that would be his fault, for leaving and staying away. Yet he closest friends were ecstatic to finally talk to him again, and, as far as he knew, the Seer had stayed faithful to him the whole time.

It was time he let go of his fear. Except for the Bard, everyone's feelings and confusion were resolved. There wasn't a reason for him to be frightened any longer. When it came to his shame, however...

"You shouldn't hate yourself, you know," the Seer interrupted. She knew him far too well not to guess what was going on in his head. "If you put your actions in context, you're innocent. Not to mention you didn't do anything to be ashamed of in the first place – you didn't kill anybody, you didn't cheat on anyone, and you tried to keep the rest of us alive."

"I wasn't good enough, Terezi-"

"Nonsense!" the Seer interrupted yet again. "I used to have a sense of justice, and taking all things into consideration, your actions were perfectly fine."

The Knight sighed. "It's hard to forget all the shit I did – or didn't do."

"You're innocent, Karkles, trust me."

The Knight didn't reply; he just continued the dance.
