Clad in long black coats, the two of them sat atop a large skyscraper that rested in the center of the dark city. Demyx looked to his companion, then up into the deep purple and crimson sky. His mind wandered aimlessly like the few stray clouds that drifted overhead. For a while now Demyx had resisted the urge to ask Xigbar a burning question, but as of late his resistance was wavering. The question nagged at him during every waking moment. Like a bad itch, it never left. And like a bad itch, it was getting to be intolerable.
The Melodious Nocturne fidgeted.
Xigbar put an arm around the young Nobody. "You still with me dude?"
"Huh?" Demyx nodded, "Yeah, I was thinking."
"Thinking?" Xigbar teased, grinning. "About what Dem?"
Demyx poked Xigbar's chest, "Something important."
"Oh! Important!" Xigbar all but laughed.
"Yeah!" Demyx replied defensively, "I was thinking about you!"
Xigbar stopped. He stared into Demyx's sparkling blue eyes. The Freeshooter smirked and began to snicker.
"You shouldn't think dirty things Demy"
Demyx sighed, "Geeze Xiggy... I was being serious-"
"For once." Xigbar interrupted.
"Cut it out!" Demyx whined. "I want to ask you a question."
Xigbar smiled, "Well shoot then."
Demyx hesitated for a moment. "You used to do science stuff with Vexen and the others right?"
"Yeah, sorta." Xigbar confirmed.
"Okay, and your element is space, right?"
Xigbar smiled, "Sure is Demy."
Demyx nodded, "So, I was wondering..." He paused for a moment. Then he turned to Xigbar and as innocently as a child, he popped the question. "Were you an astronaut?"
Xigbar crashed to his back not knowing how to respond. If the Freeshooter had been standing he probably would have fallen to the pavement. Demyx pecked Xigbar on the cheek and giggled.
