"Luna?" The voice was questioning as if unsure and cracked mid-way. How can anyone be unsure at the sight of her? She was simply unique and a step beyond radical in every way.
She had certainly changed since he last saw her- yes, but still very much recognisable. After the final battle, he had gone straight to Tunisia to study Figgleworms in desperate longing to be ridden of the scene's he had seen. Figgleworms, as he had discovered, where nothing less than creatures who penetrated Mandrakes and eaten them inside out causing them to be hollow when fully grown and cause malfunctions when used for potions.
He, of course, had found a simple remedy to fight of the bothersome Figgleworms, but still they didn't manage to take his mind of matters back home.
When he returned, she had already left with her father having finished school to discover some Hebbingferbs in the Australian Outback. Magical creatures had always been her calling, he had thought.
He had discovered that when he saw her that day with the Threstrals the year before the downfall. He hid beneath the shrubs and watched her as she talked in her optimistic tone telling them how everything's going to be alright. Which turned out to be true- after a while.
Now, seeing her here after six years of their last meeting felt so surreal. No one had heard of her since she had left with her father. He didn't know whether to believe it or not.
She span around at his call and he could see the confusion mounting in her features.
"Can I help you, sir?" She asked blinking, sounding the same as she always did.
"It-it's me." He smiled "Neville?"
"Oh, hello Neville." She replied and grinned sweetly.
Luna Lovegood had never grown up. Her hair seemed the same length and her eyes still the same shape. She obviously looks older, but she could be mistaken for a teenager.
She was wearing yellow and green striped stockings with a purple velvet dress and orange beads around her neck. She hasn't changed, Neville thought.
"How've you been?" She inquired, taking a step towards him in the busy street.
"Good, good. I've gotten a job at Hogwarts, teaching. Poor Professor Sprout retired. I haven't seen you around for a while."
"Oh, I know. Been very busy. What's that you've got there?" She gestured to the package he was holding, hidden beneath his navy cloak.
"Just some self-fertilizing shrubs. I was just heading to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, would you er- would you like to come? To catch up, of course." He said, rubbing the back of his head.
"Sure, I've just been, but I had a splendid time and wouldn't mind another scoop." She agreed and they both weaved their way through Diagon Ally.
