She was never a morning person, and today was no exception. With the shining rays of the sun, passing through the window and illuminating their bedroom, she knows that the dawn of a brand new day awaits her. With the speed of a sloth, Kaname gets up and begins her daily routine; in the meanwhile, in the kitchen, her fiance is preparing breakfast for both of them. He's not the best cooker, but his militaristic background made him into quite the early-bird and they're on holidays, so he wanted to give her a small surprise. Plus, he gets the chance to look at Kaname sleeping, which is an amazing view in itself.
As he begings to prepare their smoothies, his mind begins to drift away. Past memories begin to arise, good and bad ones, but every single one of them equally important. His first day at Jindai High, the fight with Gauron, Amalgam, Hong Kong, Mexico, Tartaros, Sophia, then if we fast forward his first day in University comes to mind, their new apartment and, last but not least, the day when he proposed to Kaname.
It wasn't a particularly important date, but a few weeks prior he had the feeling that they've come so far in their relationship that it would just feel right to do it. So, once the ring was aquired, he felt like it was his duty to make sure that moment would've been her favorite one up untill then.
Of course, his plan was a success.
A peck on his cheek wakes him up, and the culprit turns out to be a grinning Kaname.
"Good morning, Sousuke!"
"Good morning Ch-Kaname," he says, raising an eyebrow on his fianceé's face.
"Are you ok? You seemed very thoughtful..."
"Don't worry, instead sit so I can serve you breakfast."
"O-Oh! That's... really nice of you! How come you decided to make it?"
That was a good question and, since he decided to make it on a whim, he had to improvise an answer.
"... I was really worried about your assumption of calories and carboidrates, expecially now during summer holidays!", he says with a drop of sweat running down his cheek, probably caused by the heat (or maybe not).
"I see...", she says, with a sigh afterwards. "Oh well, I appreciate the thought," a light peck on the lips follows the statement, after which she goes to take her seat.
《 She seems to be in a really good mood, 》he thinks as he pours the smoothie in two glasses.《 Let's hope she has good intentions... 》
As he sits down and serves to Kaname her breakfast, she speaks up.
"This looks... surprisingly good! Did the TDD cooker tought you some recepies?", she asks in an almost teasing tone.
"I used to prepare some meals when I was in Afghanistan. It wasn't very often, but it seems like I remember it very well."
"I see," she says as her fork starts digging into the boiled eggs. She doesn't mind western breakfast, as long as it's filling and well done and this one, surprisingly, fulfills her requirments.
Silence falls afterwards, but it's not an awkward one, instead it's a pleasant one. One or two looks are being exchanged, but not much. There's no need to, their relationship has been long past that.
