Instead of Annabeth being scratched first, it was my sister, but I was Percy in the dream, and he doesn't have a sister…that part was really confusing…so I changed it to Annabeth. Oh, and Kelli was actually my cousin Kelli, but she was a Hunter…it was just weird….

The campers were in the small lake. The Hunters were in the dining room instead. Suddenly, Poseidon appeared. "Quick! Out of the water!"

"Why?" I asked.

"Naiads!" He said.

"But they're good, aren't they?"

"Not these ones," he explained. "They scratch and kiss you. If you're scratched or kissed by one, your powers started depleting and your health starts deteriorating. But if you're both scratched and kissed, you're as good as dead."

"Well," I started, "Let's get out of the water then!"

We scrambled onto the rocks that were jutting out from the water. All was calm for a moment.

Then a naiad lurched from the water. She had stringy, dirty gray-blond hair. Her eyes were a creepy yellowish color. Her fingers and toes were webbed. She was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but they were in tatters. I really wished I had Riptide, but I was wearing a pocketless swimsuit. Actually, I would've liked any weapon right then.

She jumped at Annabeth and kissed her before I could react. Annabeth crumpled, and my hearth squeezed. More naiads started reaching out of the water. They all looked generally the same, but some had green hair, while others had purple.

One of them jumped towards Lacy. I grabbed its face and pulled it backwards before it could kiss her, but the naiad just scratched my ankle. I fell backwards into the water.

Good, I thought. Water is good, right? I saw the naiad that had scratched me right in front of me, and tried to get away by submerging myself. I soon realized that I couldn't breathe underwater anymore, and came up sputtering and flailing. The naiad grabbed my head. I tried to will the currents to move me, but they wouldn't respond. The naiad kissed me, and I could feel my energy depleting.

Somebody grabbed me from behind, and I started kicking at them. The strong arms turned me so that I was facing my captor. I let out a sigh of relief. It was just my dad.

"Go," he said. "Go to the nearest room. I'll get the rest of them out. They've all suffered a kiss, a scratch, or neither. You're the only one who's had both."

I nodded. Thankfully, knowing how to swim wasn't a godly power. I made it back to land just as another naiad was reaching for my leg. Unfortunately, she managed to scratch it.

I ran towards our nearest hotel room, which just happened to be that of the Hunters. One of them, Kelli, was in there already.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Evil naiads," I tried to explain.

She looked confused, but she seemed to know I was in a bad condition right now. She threw me a blanket.

I looked through the window, and could see the Hunters laughing as they returned. I shivered and pulled the blanket tighter around me as the door burst open.

"What is a boy doing in here?" Phoebe demanded.

"I'm not sure," Kelli replied. "He said something about evil naiads. Do you think…?"

Thalia rushed over to me. "Oh, gods. Were you, by chance, kissed or scratched?"

I nodded.

"Which one?"

I felt really vulnerable to be like this in front of a group of girls who hate guys. This was the perfect time for them to make fun of me. "I was scratched twice, kissed once," I managed to choke out.

Thalia cursed. "Lost Kelli's sister to those last spring. Kara was only scratched, though. You—well, you're pretty much dead. You look awful, by the way."

"Thanks for the update," I said, heavy on the sarcasm.

And that… is when I woke up.
