A lot has happened in Hermione's fourth year.
First, she released she was lesbian.
Second, she fell in love
Third, she learnt that your parents aren't always right
and Fourth she felt truly safe for the first time.
Realising she was Lesbian was not a snap decision, Hermione first started questioning in third year when she started noticing girls more them boys. Her sexuality was confirmed when she saw the veela's at the world cup, she was more interested in the Veel'a then Harry was.
She didn't want to tell anyone - not ever. Hermione had no idea how the wizarding world would react and it wasn't like she could go up to Ron and ask, "So.. what happens if a witch or wizard is gay" It would be too suspicious. She didn't want to tell anyone until she met Fleur. The minute Fluer walked into the walked into the great hall Hermione knew she would grow to love her. Hermione did just that.
It was only in her fourth year that she learnt how wrong her parents where. I mean, she did find it abut weird when she was younger. But when she asked her 'Dad' why she couldn't tell the other kids about when he sleeps over in her bed and they play games, she would get burned, Literally. with a Freakin curling iron.
but when she was in Fluers arms, she felt truly safe.
