"Now! Saur, use vine whip!"

"Saur!"

WHACHAW!

"Um…Red?"

"Poli, you too, use water gun!"

"Whirl!"

FLOOSH!

"Red?"

"Now, Aero, take down!"

"Daaaaac!"

WHAM!

"Red!"

"What? Oh hey Yellow!"

It was a warm and particularly sunny afternoon, although the sun had been expected as of late in Kanto. As spring carefully unfolded its petals into summer, the weather was growing steadily less wet and more humid than before, a nice break from the chilly winter that had swept the region. Red had been battling with his regular team against a group of wild Pokemon on the outskirts of Pallet Town, just for the fun of it. The wild Pokemon, while prideful, weren't too strong, so Red hardly had to even command his own team against them. He had been oblivious to the short blonde walking up to him until she'd called his name at least five times, the first few rather hesitant to interrupt, but then just plain trying to get his attention.

"What's up?" he asked.

"Um…" Yellow stammered. "I have a question…"

"Shoot."

"Well…" Yellow stared down at her feet bashfully. "What does naïve mean?" She glanced up at Red innocently, having no clue whatsoever as to what the word really did mean.

Red almost laughed, but then he realized she was serious. Oh Yellow, he thought, it's exactly because you don't know what it means that makes you so naïve…

Red placed a hand on her head affectionately, smiling down at her. "Let's just say it's a good thing in some cases. It's a quality that in some people makes them more…charming." Red winked uncharacteristically at her on the last word, making her blush. "Now…you wanna battle me?" he asked, already knowing the answer.

"Uh…no thank you," she answered sheepishly, and then grinned cheerfully in the cute way that she did. "But I could always heal the Pokemon that you battle, along with your team!"

Red grinned back. "Deal."
