My friend requested this as a birthday present, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Hopefully she, and you enjoy it. I might not get everything right, sorry! I haven't written Buffy before, but I'm trying. Feedback, please! It'll help, for sure. This is also way shorter because it's just the prologue, I really prefer longer chapters.

& I don't own anything.

Prolgue

She doesn't know what it is that keeps bringing her back to this place. She knows she shouldn't be here, knows he doesn't live here anymore. Maybe he's still lurking, she hopes. Sometimes she thinks she sees him outside of her window, but when she blinks, he's gone. It's the same cycle, over and over. She's growing tired of the aching she feels in place of her heart. Tired of the excuses, tired of pretending everything is fine when everyone should know it's really not. But it's her job to be okay. She finds comfort knowing that he used to live here though. They'd never made memories here, she wasn't sure he even knew that she had been by this address before.

She leaves after a few minutes [he'd think she was crazy if he knew what she was doing. This wasn't one of her fairy tales. He wasn't going to come back, he had his own life now. Ours is a forever love. The words haunted her. His voice in her head, falling heavy like rain. He had never said that to her. It was always I love you, forever implied but never stated. The rain is falling freely now. When she came it was just a trickle, but now it's pouring. Random drops fell hard, leaving tear stained-like marks on her skin.

Their love would blossom someday, like it was always meant to. Despite the obstacles, it was supposed to flourish. Overwhelming strain couldn't stop them, not this time. They needed that strain[without the strain, their growth wouldn't be the same. She had seen him around a few times, when she was lurking. His vamp senses must have let him know she was there, but he never let on that he knew. Damn their connection.

He had lurked her too, but she wasn't supposed to know that. It didn't help the pain. [Why are we both lurking, why can't we just let ourselves be seen? She was tired of hiding, tired of pretending this didn't matter, he didn't matter. It was so disgustingly obvious, but no one saw it. A slayer in love with a vampire, how very curious. Curious indeed. Giles wouldn't approve of her being here, still standing outside of her old lover's old address.

With one last glance she turns and walks away. Further from her love. Further into the storm. She doesn't wish he was there; she knows what happens when you wish things. Demons come out and grant them and everything goes to hell. She can feel him. The familiar feeling of him following her into the night. She doesn't turn around, doesn't slow down. He knows she's been there, that's enough to make her want to be a coward and run. But she holds her ground. Her slayer senses are working overtime trying to absorb the vampire behind her. She needs to let him go, let him walk away.

They both know she can't.

She'll turn around one of these times. On one of her visits, or maybe one of his. Forever love. Forbidden love. Slayer and Vampire, epically in love, tied together by binds no one could break. No matter who their current love was, it was never really love to them.

They part. She can feel him leave, and the rain starts to give. It slows, like her paces. Slows like the blood in her veins. Slows. And she knows she needs to see him, needs to talk to him next time. Needs anything she can get, as long as it's him.
