It was cold and dreary. Rain drizzled down the window's freezing glass, while the leafless tree branches scratched against the hard surface and screamed as the wind howled through them. Scratching was the first thing that caught Vincent's attention; his heightened hearing had picked up this remote sound. Crimson eyes scanned his room as his black locks hung over his pale face. Slowly he threw his covers to one side and slowly put his legs over the edge of the bed. Cold flooring was unforgivable on bare feet as he slowly began to investigate the strange sound.
The corridor was cold and was dimly lit by an old light bulb; the only noise was the scratching sound which seemed to echo down the corridor he was in. Maybe it's just an animal He thought to himself as the noise got louder. Finally he located the room in which the sound was coming from. Slowly he twisted the doorknob and opened the door. What he saw shocked him.
A body of a woman was lying on the floor in a white dress. Cautiously Vincent approached her and neared his hand to the figure. Carefully he turned her body over so she was facing him. Her face was drained of colour; her hair was a dusty brown and her piecing dead brown eyes stared at him. Vincent's face went pallid he knew who this person was…Lucrecia. A crash was heard further in the room, he peered around the doorway and saw a huge shadowy figure with intense yellow eyes staring out of the window. Slowly Vincent began to shut the door but only succeeded in catching the figures attention.
The figure's silhouette was outlined in the moonlight. Vincent only knew one thing, it wasn't human. Suddenly its eyes seemed to have locked on Vincent's shivering form. Quickly Vincent shut the door and ran. He ran down the hall as fast as he could, his heart thumping loudly against his ribcage with every beat. He didn't bother to turn around to see if it was following, all he knew was that it had seen him…
Dashing into his room and shutting it behind him Vincent then dived under the covers and pretended to be asleep. With a bang the door slammed against the wall as the sound of heavy footsteps echoed around the room. Vincent had a quick glance to the end of his bed with one eye he saw Lucrecia's body on the end of the bed facing him. Closing the once opened eye Vincent didn't dare to open them again.
Another scratching noise was heard followed by a dripping sound. He felt a draft which closed the door to his room and then all was calm. Slowly he opened his eyes and saw that Lucrecia's body had gone, it was just him in the room. Just a nightmare Vincent thought as he looked around the room. Then something caught his attention. Something on the wall made his blood turn to ice.
On the wall were written four words in blood:
I know you're awake
