Who's baby?

"Aww, isn't he the cutest!" Rikku cooed, waggling her fingers in front of the newborn's sparkling green eyes.

"I guess the Al-Bhed blood won out, eh?" Wakka commented dryly from his place near the door.

"I guess so!" Yuna giggled.

Paine rolled her eyes. "I think I might have liked him with red eyes better…"

Everyone laughed.

Vidina gurgled happily from Lulu's lap in the rocking chair. He was nearly 2 years old now and everyone was starting to say he resembled his mother more. His vivid red hair had darkened to mahogany, and the curl up front had long since flattened.

Tidus stared contemplatively out the window into the Besaid sunset, fleeting clouds gathering up the shadows in the setting sun. It was so beautiful it almost made him wish he could fly. It made him feel guilty that on such a happy occasion all he wanted was to get away. Gippal obviously shared his feelings, tracing a bare finger on the table by the windowsill, deep sighs leaving his muscled chest.

Brother was whooping animatedly to Buddy outside the hut, his tattoos thrown into sharp relief by the waning light. Baralei was trying to calm them down, all the while uncharacteristic laughter leaving his lips at Brother's laughter. It was indeed a happy day.

The newborn made the rounds, going from Rikku to Paine, Yuna, Tidus, Wakka, Lulu and back. Gippal didn't seem interested. He made a crack about dropping the kid. Rikku shot him a critical look as he returned his lovelorn gaze out the window.

"What are you going to name him?" Buddy asked, after Brother was finally calm enough to follow them back in.

All three old friends gave each other knowing looks.

"Peter!"

"Seyru"

"Steve!"

Everyone froze and stared at Rikku. "What? It's a pretty name!" she retorted.

"hey, I think the mother should decide!" Baralei said giving Paine a furtive look.

Gippal emerged from his pondering long enough to give his friend a supportive "hear hear!" before looking back out the window.

"But what if the father wanted a say?" Tidus said musingly, ripping his eyes from the glorious sunset to address the room at large.

"I guess he could, if he wanted…" Yuna said, smiling at Tidus.

Tidus put a loving hand on Yuna's shoulder and gazed down at his son.

"he definitely looks like a Seyru to me."

Everyone let out a communal sigh, as baby Seyru fell asleep in his mother's arms.

"Hey Yunie, I want me one of those!" Rikku whispered into her cousin's ear after most everybody else had left to let her rest.

Yuna chuckled softly. "Then work on Gippal!"

"He's hopeless. He's happier out working on Machina then being home with me!"

"Well I can't do anything about that…how about we make a promise then. You babysit Seyru when I need you until you have your own. No pay!"

"Aw Yunie! You're such a meanie poopie head!"

"We talked about using words like that, Rikku, you're 20 years old…"

"I know…geez…I better get cracking then!"

Yuna gave her favorite cousin a wink and a kiss, and reveled in her first time alone with her son…

Seyru…

(bah, this was supposed to get your mind going on who's kid it was and it all just got ruined, it wasn't asuspenseful at all, a 9 year who played FFX-2 would've guessed who's it was...oh well..)
