Prologue
"I'm sorry, Alice. I can't take the stress of this anymore."
"You're just going to give up all you've worked for? What about all Carlisle taught us, Jasper? What about moral values?"
"I'm sorry. I might come back. I might not. But right now, you can't stop me."
As he shut the door I stood motionless. I couldn't see what would happen; not enough decisions had been made yet. All I knew was that he'd left to hunt the innocent. And I started to cry.
