Disclaimer: I don't own Fullmetal Alchemist.
A/N: Originally completed spur-of-the-moment at Anime Detour's Iron Pen contest, 4/1/12. The contest: write a drabble of EXACTLY one hundred words, using only material that's Japanese in origin (manga/anime), which has to do with a surprise prompt item. In 2012, the prompt item was this little Christmas present, the cliche kind that's a little square box with red paper and green ribbon and a bow. The time limit was one hour. My entry didn't win (for the second year running), but I had an awesome time. My family crouched in a quiet corner of the hotel afterward (and you'd be surprised how few quiet corners exist at the con) and read each other's entries. What fun! And PLEASE REVIEW! I just love getting them.
A small, square box? Encased in bright red wrapping? And tied shut with green ribbon? What purpose did it serve? Why was it sitting innocently on the table, as though it belonged there?
Spike puffed out a sigh of smoke. Nope. Didn't make sense.
"Ooooh!" squealed the youngest member of the Bebop crew. Ed fixed her bright eyes on the box-thing. "Prit-ty! Purrrrty."
Jet just stared at it without comment.
Faye Valentine rolled her eyes and clued them in. "It's a Christmas present. An old custom from Earth."
"Yeah, right," the cowboys scoffed. Just another of Faye's wild stories.
