The King watched Durza from afar. How could he let his feelings be known? There had been times when he felt like Durza might feel the same, but then soething would remind him that it wasn't right to like another man. People who ran countries liked women! He massaged his temples with his index fingers.
Suddenly I'm all alone
Pushed away from nothing wrong
Don't you have the guts to say

Durza smiled at him from afar. Galbatorix's cold heart suddenly felt as though it was over an open fire. He summoned the Shade over, like a fool. He had just conjured the words to say how he felt, when a servant burst through the doors. Durza looked thankful for the interruption. Galbatorix felt his heart shrivel right up.

He swept from the room and sprinted to his old friend, who doubled as a counsellor and healer. "My... friend...Hailah...likes another man. What should he do?" He shouted stubbornly. His friend shook her head and replied. "That kind of relationship shouldn't be. They aren't right for each other." Galbatorix left again before he cried. Meanwhile, his friend sighed and shook her head, for she understood who had the problem.

He slumped against a cold stone wall and let his tears fall. Why him?

A warm hand fell apon his shoulder. He looked up and gasped at Durza's concerned face. He brushed his tears away and stood up, only to have Durza push him back down again. "Tell me what's wrong with you." Galbatorix shook his head. "I can't."

"Yes you can, Master. I won't tell a soul." He smiled ruefully. Galbatorix felt butterflies being set off like fireworks in his stomach. "There's just a...a friend of mine... who likes another m-man. He doesn't know how to tell them and...it saddens me." He finished lamely. Durza smiled sadly. "I am attracted to men myself. I am no longer ashamed to say so. Tell your friend-" he emphasised friend "-that they should ask if the one they love feels that way." Galbatorix gasped and suddenly, before he knew it "I-"

"-feel the same. About... m-me-men, i mean." Durza smiled and put a hand on his leg. "So it WAS you! Well all you need to do is tell this person how you feel! They'll take it fine, swear." Galbatorix took a deep breath and whispered. "I love you, Durza the Shade."
