A/N: This is written for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Speed Drabble, and Connect the Characters, and the Title Challenge on HPFC. Luna will be my character for connect the characters since I ship her with a lot of people. Rolf/Luna was my pair for Speed Drabble. Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. JK Rowling does.
It was official. Luna was nursing a broken heart. She hadn't wanted to be one of those girls, not for Draco Malfoy. But Merlin, she had loved him. She knew he had loved her too, but he still left her to join the dark side. He didn't want to, he had told her that much. He had only done it to protect his family, but it hurt all the same. She couldn't be with somebody that had opposite opinions like his were, so they had broken up. He had tried to fight for her, but she just couldn't do it anymore.
Every night since then, she nursed her broken heart with a drink. Or two, or three. Luna always wondered if she had made the right decision to end things. She didn't like thinking about that because that question tore her up the most.
A man suddenly appeared at her side. "Drinking won't solve your problems," he said, nodding at her glass in her hand.
Luna frowned at him. "How do you know I'm trying to drink away my problems?" she shot back bitterly.
He shrugged. "I've seen you come in here every night this week so far. You usually have four glasses before going home. You have the same tortured expression everybody has when they try to drink away their problems."
She sighed sadly. "I'm drinking so I can't feel anything…so I can't remember what I want to forget."
The man studied her. "It won't work like that. Sometimes you just have to face whatever it is head on. Or just fight back. Come on. Let's take a walk. Fresh air might help."
Luna drew back from him a little. "I don't even know you. How do I know that you aren't crazy?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I like to think that everyone is a little bit crazy. If it helps though, my name is Rolf." He held out his hand to shake hers, and Luna wearily took it.
"I'm Luna," she said finally after a moment.
Rolf smiled at her. "I know. Come on, there's something I want to show you."
They started walking towards the woods nearby, and Luna stopped. "Are you going to kill me here or something?" she asked him, half-serious.
Rolf chuckled. "No…just trust me."
She sighed again before following him. He had ended up taking her to a waterfall hidden in the woods. "I like to come here whenever I need to escape life. So perhaps this can be your escape too."
Luna looked around. She instantly felt calmer as she listened to the water running. "Perhaps," she answered softly. "Thank you for sharing it with me."
They ended up talking all night, though Luna regretfully told him she had to leave at dawn. Her roommate would be worried about her.
"Can I see you again?" Rolf asked her hopefully.
Luna gave him a smile and nodded. "I'd like that." They continued meeting at the pub every night. Luna had stopped drinking after they first met, and he finally asked her out on a date a week later. She had hesitated before answering, but it ended up being yes.
