AN: Was watching a re-run the other day when I started to wonder where John went after he escaped from Hell. I decided to give him a happy ending.
John sighs in relief as he approaches the Pearly Gates of Heaven and sees his wife standing there waiting for him. After so many years without her support, and then his years in Hell, John can't help the tears that come to his eyes. He watches her for a moment as she speaks to Peter, the gate keeper and she laughs at something he says. A smile spreads across his rough features and he walks forward. Mary's first reaction to seeing him is not what John was expecting. The expression on her face is one of love and relief, but it quickly changes to one of anger and frustration as she slaps her husband hard across the face. John stares at her in shock, holding his cheek.
"What was that for?"
"For raising our sons as hunters and then selling your soul to the demon that killed me." Mary replies seriously.
The next moment Mary has her arms wrapped tightly around John with silent tears flowing down her face.
"I love you so much."
John, who is still a little stunned by Mary's reaction, wraps his arms around her. His mind is playing catchup and when it finally registers that this is Mary in his arms he holds her even tighter and lets the tears fall. He closes his eyes and hides his face in her hair, because even dead; he is still John Winchester, the ex-marine and tough-as-nails hunter. There was no way he would let anyone see him cry.
