Hey everybody! I'm finally starting this new story so I hope you all enjoy it. I'm so sorry it took my so long to start this story but I was working one another story which I just finished two days ago. I didn't update yesterday because I wanted to give myself a little break from writing then I was doing homework all day today. So, without further ado, I give you Love or Tradition.

I do not own Divergent.

Prologue

In a city called Chicago, there was a society separated into five different kingdoms with five different personalities and values. The kingdoms were called Dauntless, Erudite, Abnegation, Candor, and Amity and each kingdom took part to help out the other kingdoms. Erudite valued knowledge and they housed the doctors and scientists of the society. Amity valued kindness and peace and they were the farmers that grew all of the food for all the kingdoms. Candor valued honesty and they were the lawyers and judges, handling all the cases that came within the five kingdoms. Dauntless valued bravery and they were the soldiers, protecting all of the kingdoms and without them, the rest of the kingdoms would be taken over. Abnegation valued selflessness and they were the merchants of the society, helping others receive what they needed.

Even though there was a king and queen in the kingdoms, there were also council members. The council was considered the right hand of the rulers, in case something happened to the royal family, then they would take over the kingdom until a prince or princess from another kingdom married the members' son or daughter. They weren't as important as the king or queen but they were treated with respect as they were considered 'high society.' There were four members in the council and they gave their opinions to the king and queen but the royals were the only ones that made the final decision.

Each kingdom had its own rules and guidelines that the other kingdoms had to follow but all the kingdoms had one rule that they all followed. The princes and princesses of each kingdom had to marry another prince or princess from another kingdom, to keep the peace. When the princes and princesses reached the age of 18, they had to marry the person the leaders chose for them.

Also, in the kingdoms, if the king or queen had more than one child, the eldest son got to take over the kingdom. When a prince or princess married another prince or princess, the woman would have to live with the man in his kingdom. The only way the princess got to stay in her kingdom was if she was the only child in her family.

Everyone was at peace and they all knew their roles in life. Well, everyone except for me. My name is Beatrice Prior and this is my story on how I broke tradition to marry for love.

There is your little taste of what is to come. I have some ideas for this story so I hope that it all sounds good and that it works. Also, I would like to state that the factions might be a little different than what the book says. I'm not saying that their personalities are going to be different, but how they dress; specifically Abnegation. I know that in the movie and the book, everyone wore grey and their clothes didn't make them stand out, but I want to give them a little bit of color. I don't know what color yet but it won't by grey or the colors of the other factions.

I will try to have the next chapter up sometime tomorrow but it probably won't be until late in the afternoon or at night. So please review and tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions for this story. Later :)
