His hand wraps around her naked waist, as she nestles into his strong body. His mouth places soft lingering kisses next to her ear. It makes her smile but it also makes her clamp her legs together with desire. She wants Tobias to be back on top of her again, making her moan so loud her neighbour upstairs tramp their feet. She just wants him.

This was the aftermath of another screaming match between them. She doesn't remember what it was about this time, her mind still fuzzy from the release he gave her, but she knows there were some nasty words thrown at each other. Yes, Tris does have her insecurities about herself but so does Tobias. He's afraid she'll leave him alone just like Evelyn did. That someone better than him will snatch her away. His grip on her tightens as he sucks love bites all over her skin, marking his territory. She is his. He is hers.

Tris is no fool. She knows the line between indulgence and addiction. He's always at the bar with Zeke, or with guys from the gym. The refrigerator is beginning to resemble a liquor store. It makes her want to cry because the fucker who killed her parents was addicted as well. She's never been one to voice her disapproval when he drinks but it's getting out of hand.

As she ponders through her thoughts on the couch the door slams shut and she knows he's home. The clock reads 2:15 am.

"Baby, I missed you so much today." He slurs walking clumsily towards her. His leather jacket is thrown to the couch and he pulls her up for a sloppy kiss. Tris pecks him lightly then moves away, the stench is not one she favours on him.

He groans and tries to pull her close again, sliding his hands underneath the tank top she's wearing trying to feel her nipples against his palm.

"Tobias, stop." Tris says.

His hands didn't.

"Seriously Tobias."

His hands still don't stop. With a bit of force he pulls the tank top up. It rises above her chest leaving her breasts bare. Her hand slaps him hard against his face before they quickly smooth the material back down.

"What the fuck Tobias!" She screams tears glittering in her eyes.

"Tris baby-" He begins. He looks like he's sobering up by the second. His face wears a distraught look as he realizes what he's done.

"No fuck you Four. I'm sick and tired of this shit. Sleep on the couch tonight." Tris yells before walking to their bedroom.

She leaves Tobias standing in the living room tongue tied. He still fucking drunk and he can't stop the feeling of heaviness in his chest. He's made her cry so many times but something inside tells him he's lost her for good.

When Tobias wakes it's like someone is hammering his head. Laid out on the coffee table is two tablets, a glass of water along with a sticky note that reads,

I'm out for a run. Will be back later

He sits there with his head in his hands and he realizes he fucked up big time. This may be the worse fight they have. He wants to slam his head against the wall or call Zeke to beat him black and blue. Maybe a trip to Marcus will do the trick. He knows he's had a drinking problem but lately it's escalated. For all the fucking years he's been with Tris she's always the one who initiates in the relationship. He touched her with force and harshness not the gentle care she's accustomed too.

Its 10 am when she comes back, sweaty from run. Andshe look so gorgeous is the first thought that crosses his mind. Tris ignores him, entering the kitchen grabbing a bottle of water before walking right past them into the bathroom to shower. The next 20 minutes have Tobias nearly clawing his hair out, wondering how the fuck did they get here.

She comes back in shorts a t-shirt and sits down on the couch opposite him. Her hair is damp and she smells like strawberries and his throat constricts. He loves her so much. He can't lose her.

"Tris-"

"Tobias, for the last month you've been coming home late drunk out of your mind every day. There's more Smirnoff than food in the fridge"

"I know I'm just dealing with a lot right now Tris and-"

"That doesn't justify the way you've been treating me"

"I love you Tris I'm sorry it won't happen again" He pleads.

"And that's what you've said the last time Tobias. Should I even call you that? You're acting more like Four to me" She retorts.

"Tris please don't" He can feel his heart racing.

"Tobias, I think we n-need a break from each other. You're an alcoholic and I've been trying to help you but you won't let me." She finally cracks and begins to cry, tears streaming down her face.

Tobias is no longer fighting his tears when he speaks, "No Tris. Don't do this, you're my family".

"You won't talk to me Tobias. What are you dealing with right now that you can't tell me? We've been together for 5 years. What has you so messed up that you tried to force yourself on me?" Tris asks.

"I'm always going to be your family Tobias. I love you but we need to stop...for good." She mutters and with that Tobias feels like he can't breathe.

After the talk Tobias walks out placing a kiss to her forehead and Tris screams till her voice goes hoarse. She trashes the apartment they share. Plates, cups, bottles of vodka and wine litter the floor. She knew it was for the better. They were toxic for each other. But she only loves him. Only wants him.

Tobias.

Three months pass and everyday is pure agony for Tris. He left Chicago the following day after their breakup and she's heard he's in New York staying with some old friends. Tris is a lot of things but for one she isn't okay. Christina is worried and Zeke calls her every week to check up on her. She's lost a lot of weight and there are permanent bags underneath her eyes. She misses him so god damn much.

Everywhere is a reminder of him, from his favourite pizza parlour she passes every morning on her commute to work to the dreaded bar he spent most of the last few months of their relationship. And while walking down the street she's hit with the thought of getting him back. Tobias is not supposed to be alone right now and Tris is going to help him because she loves him. She is his family.

Her eyes are brimming in tears when she heads towards their closest still filled with his clothes. He left everything and she keeps it. She pulls on his black sweater still smelling like him, slips on the yoga pants he loves on her before grabbing her passport and credit card. She's about to search up flights to New York when her cell phone lights up with a photo of her and Zeke.

"Hey Ze-"

"Oh my god! Tris you need to get down to the hospital. Its Four, he's been in an accident"
Tris can feel her insides flip and she starts shaking. Her eyes are blurring and she lets go a strangled cry before dropping phone and falling to the floor. She lets herself cry for a minute before she slips on her shoes and is running out the door.

Tris is frantic when she barrels into the hospital. She can't lose him.

Within a few seconds she spots Zeke in his scrubsand runs towards him.

"Zeke h-how is he? How did this happen?" She sobs into his chest wrapping her arms around him. His embrace is nothing like Tobias's and she wonders if she'll ever feel it again.

"Tris it's going to be okay... I didn't know he was coming back tonight. He was driving and a drunk driver came out of nowhere and hit him. I was just finishing a shift and I saw him on the stretcher" Zeke mutters.

She can't help but wonder if God is playing a cruel joke on her, first her parents now Tobias? If he doesn't make it she doesn't know if she will either. Waiting in the uncomfortable plastic chair is driving her crazy. She wants to know what the fuck is going on and her patience is dwindling minute by minute. She hasn't heard his voice in three months or seen how he looked. Tris imagines his brown hair, growing out and his blue eyes staring right back at hers with love.

Zeke dozes off a bit but wakes up when his co-worker comes with news. Tris remembers she's not the only in jeopardy of losing someone. Tobias is practically his brother.

The doctor explains all his injuries and how lucky he is to survive. Anybody else would've died on impacts. When he's done he only allows one person at a time. Zeke nudges Tris towards Tobias room, as he's going to call the others. She holds her breath when she enters the room and freezes mid-stride. There he lays bandaged up with IVs and tubes of all sorts hooked up to him. Her eyes water as she looks at him for the first time in three months. Tobias looks pales and his brown hair is grown out and there's quite a bit scruff going on. His eyes reach hers and she lets out her breath.

"I always loved those yoga pants" Tobias croaks out. The next second Tris by his bedside wrapping her thin arms around him peppering kisses on his face and choking on tears.

"How are you fucking joking around? You nearly died Tobias! You love that I'm in yoga pants while I hate that you're covered in bandages and casts! What the fuck were you thinking to drive so late at night from New York to Chicago! How could you do this to me? How could you do this to Zeke and our friends? You were about to leave me alone forever" Tris yells at him moving her hands all about.

"You done yet?" He asks with a smirk, but she doesn't miss the tears in his eyes.

She huffs and sits down on the chair placed beside the bed, and she holds his hand, her grip as strong as steel.

"Yes... but I have one question. What were you doing back in town?" She mutters, tears never quite stopping.

"I... I couldn't let you go Tris. I went to New York for a rehabilitation program; I'm not abusing alcohol anymore. I went to help myself and get better for you and now I came to beg and plead for your forgiveness... for you to take me back. I love you." Tobias says staring at her with a look that makes her heart skip a beat.

Tris feels her heart swell and she grins for the first time in forever, "I love you too."

Tobias's recovery was long but Tris didn't care, as long as she got to keep him she was fine. Another 6 months pass and Tris and Tobias are in bed and she just can't get enough of him. She wonders how she could be so stupid to let him be alone without her. One thing for sure is that she'll never be so stupid again. They both lay in comfortable silence, her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat, one she thought she would never hear again. Suddenly the rhythm picks up.

"Tris...?" He asks

"Hmm..."

"I love you"

"And I love you too" She replies giving him a kiss on his lips.

He runs his finger up and down her spine before reaching for the drawer. His hand emerges with a velvet box. Tris gasps and places her hands on the sides of Tobias's face.

"Tris, I love you with all my heart... Will you marry me?" He asks with the small grin she loves.

"Yes!

The End.
