Mixed with Light and Darkness
Prologue
It was a beautiful day in Dreamland and its denizens, as the sky swirled with endless blue and was adorned with a bright yellow orb. The lush grass was soft and reflected the sunlight beautifully, and the trees far off were smiling and giving away fresh fruit. But a mysterious presence disturbed the cheerful mood and supplanted it with tense apprehension and fear.
A dark fog gradually invaded the sky, soon blocking out the sun. It seemed to be seeking something, for it spread out into branches and each headed different ways. T
he fog reached the friendly trees, but they could do nothing, as they were not able to move. They cried until their eyes blinked crimson and the trees, with growls, became the opposite of what they were: imposing, hazardous, and mean-spirited.
The fog left the forest, yet its influence remained, and drenched another area in darkness as it searched tirelessly for the key. It soon sighted a round creature laid out on the grass, and it let out a cry and grew faster, flinging its arms at the resting one. The fog wrapped its tentacle around his round body, and he woke up.
"(Wha—?") he looked down and cried out when he noticed some sort of blackish tentacle holding him above the ground. He heard indiscriminate voices, but could not understand them.
"Tē dēposcĕmus ēlābere, nam ĕrus noster tū es," the ominous voices seemed to chant.
He tried to wiggle away, but the fog had a firm grip on him.
"Nōn cōnari ēlābere; fātum tūum adest," the voices commanded, and he was slowly being covered by the fog's hand. The darkness trailed across his body, and he had no other choice but to watch as he was swallowed up in its thralls.
Soon, he couldn't even see...
