Demons—Saving Me

A/N: Honestly, this song has always reminded me of Luke. I always thought it fit him perfectly. So, I hope you enjoy this one-shot, R&R!

3rd Person POV:

"Please, Annabeth." The voice begged. It was hoarse and pained, as if the speaker had been tortured.

The girl looked at him with pain in her eyes, as if she wanted nothing more than to help him. But alas, she knew she couldn't.

"You know I can't…" she barely whispered. She wouldn't…no, she couldn't look him in the eyes. She couldn't see what he had become.

"It can be like the old days. We can escape this mess…" he pleaded. This was his last thread of hope. He wanted to hide the truth from her. He wanted to tell her he was still the same. But alas, he couldn't string the rights words together… to make it true.

Fate is not something to mess with. Perhaps his grave had already been dug too deep to go back. But he could not help but want this. He needed a chance. A chance to start over. A chance to escape his decision.

The girl bit her lip. Her long blonde hair framed her face as she buried her head in her hands.

The boy looked to her pitifully. He wanted to shelter her again. He inhaled deeply and as he exhaled he let a tentative hand lie on her shoulder. The girl snapped her head around in reaction to the touch.

"Never, Luke. Never again. You broke your promises. It will never be like the old days again." She replied in fury. She looked at him with disappointment then turned back to her hands.

Disappointment. He would have rather her been mad, angry, or furious with him. But the disappointment is what pained him most. He would rather her slap him, and hurt him, but the harsh silence was unbearable.

"Annabeth—"

"No Luke. No. It's final." She said harshly cutting him off.

"Annabeth…" he tried again, this time not cutoff. "Give me chance…" he trailed off, perhaps trying to convince himself that he was salvageable.

"I said no, Luke. Never." She replied shaking her head, then squeezing her eye shut hoping to block him out.

"You don't know what he will do to me. You don't know his plans." he begged her again. He took his hand and cupped her face and lifted her face up to her grey eyes were level with his own.

The blonde haired girl slapped his hand away furiously. "Never lay a finger on me again or I swear…"

"Swear what? Annabeth, look at me. Remember those days? It was just you and me no prophecy, no gods, just us. Tell me that you don't miss it. Tell me that you don't crave it."

"And Thalia. The girl, YOUR stupid gang poisoned." She said filling the word your with contempt and scorn. "And no. You are not the same you were back then. It was different, so don't you dare try to compare now to back then."

He was running out of time.

"Annabeth. It is now or never. Save me…save me from this." He begged and pleaded with full sincerity. His face said it all. It was full of agony and fear.

She finally turned to him. Then with the strength of all the gods, she said,

"Never."

A/N: What do you think? I know it's a tad OOC, but I intended that to hopefully amp up the emotion. I hope you enjoyed it, and please review. You have no idea how much I treasure my reviews :)
