Author's Note: Extremely short, extremely pointless Rypay one-shot. Enjoy. :)

Diamonds Are Forever

-

Sharpay, like any self-respecting rich girl, had a thing for shinny, expensive stones.

On her sixth birthday her Daddy gave her a pretty little bracelet with a glittering 'S' studded with little diamonds. Sharpay remembers the bracelet. Her mother remembers it too, and whenever they have guests for dinner and Sharpay is showing signs of being stroppy, her mother is quick to tell of how her daughter flushed her pretty, expensive bracelet down the toilet because Mommy had told her she was going to take it away so that it would be looked after.

If she couldn't have it, then obviously no one could.

The next attempt at diamonds didn't come until she was thirteen, and then was a pair of 18 ct earrings. She lost them that summer at the Country Club and always suspected that little, mousy kitchenhand for taking them. The girl was fired in the end, but the earrings never found their way back.

Sharpay pouted for a new pair, but she didn't get a whiff of her favorite piece of jewelery until her sweet sixteenth. This time they came in the form of a classy, single stone silver necklace. She still has it now, tucked behind a dresser. She refuses to part with it for anything and Ryan lets her have that, even when their bills loom and their cupboards become a little more than bare.

And though Sharpay loves diamonds, and would love to have the glittering tiara that her parents had promised her for her twenty-first, the plastic pink thing on the ring finger of her left hand means so much more. She knew it would mean more to her than any of the pretty, expensive things she's ever had simply because Ryan gave it to her, his heart on his sleeve, his love for her written all over his face.

So while she pouts and dreams about all of her fine things that she sometimes misses, there's only really one thing that she truly loves, and to her it's more valuable than any of the diamonds she's ever known.
