Morning was his favorite time of day.
Not sunrise morning, but the all-covering all-bleaching morning that left a desolate canvas on which the flavors of dark shadows had rested just hours before. He would sit by the window, unmoving, staring at the grayscale city, like one of his host's charcoal sketches, and marvel at morning's ability to strip away light and dark to reveal the neutral truth of life. He wondered if Pharaoh looked out and felt fear tug at him, as his precious good and evil bled out to the same ideal.
It's all a shade of gray anyways.
