Prologue

It never should have happened, really. He knew it. She knew it. But Salazar Slytherin had never been one to follow other people's rules. He had been a rule unto himself.

How could it be wrong, anyway? He loved her, that was all the mattered, right? Apparently not.

She was a student, one of Rowena's. A brilliant pureblood girl… with a talent for getting herself in deeper than she should. She came from an old wizarding family, full of old gold and stuffy ambitions.

Her father was the Minister of Magic.

If only he knew what his daughter had done now… the torrid affair she had behind the closed doors of Hogwarts. His daughter he held on a pedestal, his prized possession. For that was all he treated her as: a possession in his ambition to go further in power than any other wizard had ever gone before.

But Salazar knew her better than that. For months he had listen to her spill her mind to him, watched her cry over the horrible things that her father did, said. It was over this time that he had fell for her.

The bad thing was, Godric had found out. All hell had broke loose…

He wasn't sure how. They had been so careful… no one had known. But Godric did now, and as headmaster, he had forbid Salazar to go anywhere near the girl. Rowena had had her say as well, of course. She kept a close eye on the two.

But he wasn't finished yet. There was still the chamber….
