And we can run, from the backdrop of these gears and scalpelsAt every hour goes the tick-tock bang of monitors asThey stared us down when we met in the emergency roomAnd in our beds, I could hear you breathe with help from cold machinesEvery hour, on the hour, they drew bloodWell I felt I couldn't take, another day inside this placeFrom silent dreams we never wake, and in this promise that we'll makeStarless eyes for heaven's sake, but I hear you anywayWell I thought I heard youSay I like you, we can get outWe don't have to stay, stay inside this placeSomeday, this day, we kept falling downSomeday, this day, set the ferris wheel ablazeYou left my heart an open woundAnd I love you forThis day, someday we kept falling downOne day, this day all we had to keep us safeAnd if we never sleep again, it would never endWell I thought I heard you say to meWe'll go so far, far as we canAnd I just can't stay, one day we'll run away
Kirsten's POV
I shut off my stereo and got out the CD labeled 'Ricky and Kirsten's Music'.
"First day of school Key-Key. For me and you."
"Mommy, when am I going to meet my daddy."
"I don't know sweetie. Mommy hasn't seen your Daddy in a long time."
"OH-TAY"
I grabbed my bag, "Get your back-pack and c'mon Key-Key."
"Oh-tay mommy."
We got in the car and I drove Kiana, my 3-year-old daughter to her head start and then headed for Ulysses S. Grant High School.
I walked in and I got stares and I heard the occasional 'new girl' but I was use to it. I'd been the new girl since I was 7.
I grabbed my schedule and walked to my locker. A pregnant girl with a French hor and a lot of books walked toward the lockers and dropped everything.
"Let me help." I said.
"Thanks. I'm Amy. Amy Jeurgens."
"Oh I'm Kirsten."
"How far along are you?" I said.
"6 months."
"Amy I need to talk to you." A familiar voice said.
"What is Ricky? I'm atually trying to talk to someone." She said.
" Its okay Amy." I said.
"Whats you last name Kirsten?" SHe said.
"Inalogo."
"Okay. I'll talk to you later."
The bell rang.
Amy walked off. Ricky caught up with me.
"Kirsten its me Ricky. Ricky Underwood."
"Oh yeah. How have you been?"
"Okay. But why don't you seem excited to see me?"
"Well I'm kinda in shock."
He hugged me.
"Did you go to rehab?" He asked.
"Uh.. No.. But I've been since I found out something."
"Oh and what was that?"
"I don't really think that was any of your business."
"Listen I know your still upset that I ratted you out about the pills, but I did it because I cared about you. I still care about you."
"Whatever. Do you wanna know why I got clean?"
"Yes."
"THen come with me." I said while grabbing his am. We drove in silence.
"Why are we at the head start?"
"You'll see." I said.
We walked in the head start, "I need to see Kiana for a minute."
Ricky's POV
A little girl who appears to be 3c coes running out.
"Ricky, this is my daughter, Kiana."
"What?" I said,
"Kiana, I'll be back to pick you up at 3." Kirsten said.
We got in her car.
"Whos the father?"
"you."
"Wuuhhhaaattt?"
"You know you heard me."
"Why didn't you find me?"
"I don't know. You don't have to feel obliged to be involed though. We've been doing alright without you." She said.
We got drove back up to the high school as she said that.
Kirsten's POV
I can't belive I finally told him.
"Does she know I'm her father." Ricky asked.
"No and I plan on keeping it that way."
"Why?"
"I don't know. Its just the way I is."
"Can I please get to know her?"
We were walking throught the halls.
"Please?"
"NO RICKY. IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT SHE'LL NEVER KNOW YOU. SHE'S MY DAUGHTER NOT YOURS. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED YOU JUST DONATED THE SPERM!' I realized I was yelling.
"Whoa, Ricky got new girl pregnant too?" I heard some guy say.
I ran in to the bathroom tears rolling down.
"Hey.." Someone said.
