Remus Lupin and Sirius Black were sitting outside on a bright summer day. The news had said it was the hottest day of the year, so the two had decided to sit outside and sell Lemonade. If the news was right then people would need something to drink, and why not make a few bucks off of it?
The two had recently become a couple, much to the shock of their quiet little town. Their best friends at school, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew, had been fully supportive of their relationship. And that was all that mattered to the two of them, even if their families didn't approve they wouldn't have truly cared.
Remus had brought up the idea earlier on in the day, Sirius quickly agreeing and asking if they could make it a competition. Remus had reluctantly agreed, and the rules had been simple. They would each go to one end of the street, set up a stand at their designated end, and see who could sell the most Lemonade. At the end of the day whoever got the most money would win, the prize being something the winner wanted.
Each decided and wrote it down on a piece of paper, putting each into separate envelopes and putting them inside, that way each boy's prize wouldn't be able to change. It had been about three hours since they had started, and both had sold the same amount of Lemonade.
The day passed quickly and most customers were a blur, faces and names not being remembered. Finally it was time to close down the makeshift stands and count the money, also seeing if either had sold more cups than the other. In the end Sirius won, which confused Remus as they had both sold the same amount of Lemonade.
"How much did you sell it for?"
"10 dollars. How much did you sell yours for?"
"5! I thought we agreed on that!"
Sirius just chuckled and pulled Remus into a quick kiss, effectively stopping a rant, and causing Remus to turn a bright shade of Crimson.
"What was that?"
"That, my dearest Remmy, was my prize." Sirius had replied, opening the envelope to reveal what he had written. Remus let out a sigh and started walking back, trying desperately to hide his blush. He ignored Sirius' shouts after him, counting his money again and again.
One thing was for sure though. As their lives stretched on, no matter where they went. They would always remember that one summer. They would always remember their little competition or the prize that came with it. And they would never everforget the Lemonade Stand.
