An insight on Klaus and Caroline's thoughts on the episode "American Gothic" where they where arguing (Alternative universe).

Caroline was in shock. She felt the urge to bring Klaus into her arms and hug him, to reassure him that she will not turn her back on him. But she cannot have these thoughts, she was with Tyler and she could never be with Klaus. At least not today or tomorrow maybe not even a year nor a decade but perhaps in a life time all could change, she could change. Then maybe she could go to the man that offered her the world.

She's afraid, not of him but of herself and her thoughts. She's feeling how tender he caresses her hand telling her that she had brought him back; how his immense loving stare gave her chills up her spine, his presence was consuming.

He looks at her as if she has all the answers. Look at him a 1000 year old original hybrid never feeling so vulnerable and to an 18 year old vampire. He didn't see her coming but ever since he put her at risk the first time and saved her life he has become infatuated by receiving her acceptance.

He wanted her to give into his darkness and to bring him the light and beauty that she gracefully possesses. He wants her and needs her by his side.

Caroline felt the need to desperately escape from his tender grip. She feels weak to his touch and doesn't want to betray Tyler just to indulge into her heated passion.

"I – I – you need to clean up." She slowly removed her hand instantly feeling the coldness of the air, realizing that his touch brought more than electricity but it also brought warmth.

Klaus did not want her to leave, he wanted her to stay. But she was walking away… slower than human speed as if she wanted him to stop her. He appeared right before her eyes this time it wasn't anger over taking him but instead the pain of having her so close and letting her go.

"Caroline, please stay." He gave her a deep meaningful look that Caroline couldn't bare to look at him.

Caroline looked down trying to control her thoughts and actions. She was short on breath but was still able to say something.

"Sure, I'll tidy up down here and you clean up" she raised her head but he was gone she only caught a glimpse of him taking off and then hearing the shower head turn on.

She was left alone in the living room, recognizing that she needed Klaus presence. Maybe one day she will take up on his offer, he was right she wasn't a small town girl.

"No, no, no, Caroline. He's a manipulative evil hybrid that has Tyler running for his life." Barely whispering it to herself so that Klaus wouldn't hear her. Caroline flashed to the counter and picked up a white towel to clean up, certainly cleaning will make her forget her thoughts.
