A/N: This is a revised version of Life as we know it, down the drain.

Small shuffles and muted music filled my ears as dulled sunlight filtered over the book sitting open in front of me. The words seemed jumbled, unorganized to my sleep filled brain making it complete nonsense. The warmth that was radiating from the sun wasn't helping either.
Groaning softly, I rubbed at my eyes slowly before looking out the big window that ran alongside the table I was currently seated at. There were college students everywhere, filling the streets while they shopped and hung out with their friends but the one thing that caught my eye was a bright yellow Camaro sitting innocently across the street from my current position.
"Beautiful…." I whispered before yawning widely and standing, shoving my books back into my large backpack on the ground. The books barely landed within the large backpack, some of the pages folding backwards but I chose to ignore that fact and zip it up quickly and toss the lumpy bag on my back and grab my long board. The board was a piece of beauty, outlined with purple flames and a cute little bumble bee centered within the flames. It was a large car sticker that'd I found somewhere in Norway, but since I didn't currently drive a car, I stuck it to my board.
Starting out the door, I got my usual glare from the librarian before setting my board down carefully and starting off for home while weaving though the hordes of college students heading home for spring break.
Maybe going home would be nice…. Nah. Shaking the though from my sleepy brain, I continued to the edge of town till I could see my old garage slash home.
The building itself wasn't very large, only the size of a single floor plan house made into a garage. Yawning once more, I shuffled though my pocket with one hand while using the other to pick up my board from the ground. The place had been left to me by my father, a grease monkey though and though. It would be nice that I could follow in his footsteps but I just couldn't find myself to really care about taking care of other people's cars. I took care of my own personal cars, which were currently being worked on, and went to college so there wasn't any real time to keep up with a running business.
Another yawn was pulled from me as the bright blue door clicked open to the usual silence of my home. "I'm home…" Grumbling, my bag was dumped on the ground next to the door and my board was gently set down next to the lumpy bag.
Running a tired hand though my hair slowly, green eyes blinked slowly as I took in the slightly dark living room before me. To work or not to work, that is the question. Though it was a stupid question. Sighing, I turned and trudged to the large door to my left that led to the large garage. The entire wall cut though half the house, my father having created the space for his work instead of living. The actual house part was very small, with one bedroom and bathroom and a small living room.
A very shrill cry shot through the air as my hand touched the handle to the garage, making me wince before throwing the door open.
The very first thing my eyes locked with was my ruined car. My beautiful yellow, '96 bug was crushed to the floor with a large pod like thing indenting the car. My heart stuttered, tears beading in my eyes at the sight before me. Oh no… I was about to start crying when another shrill cry echoed though the large space making my watery eyes lock onto a small metal…. Child? What?
Slowly starting forwards, I kept my watering eyes locked on the metal being as it cried and threw an empty gas can away from it. The metal covering its body was a gentle lavender color and look at those eyes! They were a soft blue color that just screamed innocence.
The childlike robot turned towards me when I bumped into one of my now empty gas cans and blinked those baby blues up at me, a watery substance leaking down its face as a weak whimper left its mouth. Those eyes seemed to scan me for any threat before, surprisingly, it lifted its arms and started to warble and chirp at me. The little thing was so tiny… The robot probably came up to my hip and that was it and it was sitting.
Cooing wobbily, I reached out and picked the little one up carefully. A soft grunt left me at the sudden weight but I shifted it so I was cradling the little thing close.
"Well… Hello there…" I whispered, watching in fascination as the robot curled into my hold more and clung to my tank top. Those beautiful blue eyes blinked up at me in a sleepy fashion, a soft coo leaving its mouth. Biting my lip, I turned and sat on my work bench. "Would you like to tell me what happened little one?" My hand ran over the antenna on the robots head gently, blinking when they seemed to shiver and the robot purred within my arms.
There was a few beats of silence before the robot chirped and blinked up at me with a shy look, "I chrashed." The robot whispered, shocking me. Its, no wait, her voice was soft but there was a mechanical whine to it like a machines. But the most shocking part is that she understood and responded. Blinking down at her in a daze, I nodded.
"I-I noticed… Are… Are you alright?" The little robot within my arms nodded, curling closer to my chest with a heavy vent like yawn.
"I aum fune." A small chuckle left me as I finally relaxed back into the chair, squeezing the metal bundle within my arms.
"You mean, 'I am fine' right?" I asked softly, a motherly instinct kicking in when I saw her little antennae bob with her head and she nodded. "Alright little one… Let's get you inside and get you to sleep… I need to figure out this mess…" Glancing to the rather large hole in the roof, how had that gotten past me?, I stood carefully and hauled the child robot to my living area again and sat on the couch.
Where had this little one come from? Obviously somewhere far from here…. A soft sigh left me as I turned and lay down along the couch with the precious little bundle curled up on my chest, right over my heart. The little girl slash robot had to have a home of some sort…. That pod like thing that was smashed into my car, my heart stuttered unhappily at the thought, had to be something from space or someone shot at my house with the large pod.
A soft humming seemed to come from the little ones body, warming her metal body up to a nice temperature before leveling off and stabilizing. Was that some sort of mechanism that kept her young body warm when she wasn't moving? A soft chirp left the babe, there was no way that she was simply a robot, her face pressing in between my breasts to rest the side of her head against my heart before settling again.
What an adorable little thing…. Rubbing her back plating soothingly, I yawned myself before relaxing into the couch once more. Maybe a nap would help my mind settle from this shock…. Yeah, a nap sounded amazing…
It wasn't long till the soft chirps were accompanied by a low murmuring as I fell asleep, hopefully to wake up to my bug perfectly intact and unharmed. But we all know that's not going to happen.
A/N:
Now I know that I haven't updated for over a year, almost two sadly, but I want to reboot this story then continue with it. I'm sorry that I have taken so long in doing so and I hope that you will forgive me!
