Love is like Chess
or
Checkmate
„I´ll not regret a single step I had taken."
„I´ll not stop moving forward."
Because love is like Chess. Your next move could decide everything.
He didn't remember why he had ordered Sebastian to play Chess with him. Probably because he was bored to death.
Ciel didn't know how long they had been playing. But only two more moves and he would be able to checkmate Sebastian. No matter what his butler did.
Sebastian moved one of his white pieces. It didn't ge him anywhere. Ciel smirked triumphantly to himself.
Not even his hell of a butler could beat him at chess.
He could feel Sebastian's inscrutable look staring at him.
„You really do not hesitate even one second, my Lord."
Of course, he didn't hesitate. If you hesitated and lost sight of your next move, you had already lost. Chess didn't allow hesitation or doubt.
Not for a second.
You couldn't play chess without out sacrifice. Not if you wanted to win.
And he wanted that.
Therefore he was not allowed to love. Even if they all fell, he had to be standing.
Ciel moved his black horse. Yes, Sebastian was also a pawn. His strongest one.
The horse, that could move over the whole field in one move. The pawn, which would remain by his side until the end. Until the last checkmate.
Sebastian smiled at him. With this unfathomable smile, which Ciel wished to wipe from his face . Once he had teared it of his face.
At the graveyard, where this smile had been mocking him. It had not mocked him long.
And he had vowed not to regret a single move. Not to stop until his goal was reached.
This was true even now. Now that he had broken one of the most important rules of chess.
Giving his heart to a pawn.
But he he would not hesitate to sacrifice Sebastian if he had to.
Not even if he would believe that Sebastian's love for him was possible.
Of course, Ciel could order him to love him. And Sebastian Michaelis could actually do that. But not the demon that he was.
And he loved him. Not the pawn.
But they were the same being. So he would have to sacrifice them.
Maybe he was mad or even insane. But nothing would keep him from victory. Not even love.
Although love was a little similar to chess. Your next move could decide everything.
„My Lord?", Sebastian's voice interrupted his thoughts.
„What?", Ciel snapped irritated.
„Checkmate" Sebastian grinned.
Ciel stared at the white horse, which had set his king checkmate.
And Ciel fell into a fit of laughter. The room was filled with mad giggles.
„My Lord?", Sebastian asked worried, „Are you alright?"
„I am checkmated", Ciel whispered before he kissed his butler.
„If I ever tell you that I love you, that is the moment I will have to sacrifice you", he breathed against his lips before he calmly left the room.
„I expect that dinner is served in half an hour!", he shouted back, leaving the bewildered Sebastian alone.
He retreated to his room and collapsed on the bed.
He stared at the ceiling for several minutes until he noticed the lonely tear on his cheek.
You could not play against love. Because love didn't play fair.
Comments are more than welcome. Would be nice to know what you thought about it^^
