It was everywhere, smoke making it so you couldn't see the sky. Was it night? Was it day? You couldn't tell. The screams that tore through the air were deafening, from the cry of grief to the war cry. A mixture of human screams and demonic roaring danced through the air, creating more panic and confusion. From where I stood, I could see it all. Watching as a sweet black-haired chunin took her last breath and a pink-haired civilian burned to death in the crossfire. It was chaos and I wanted to stop it, to pause it, do something!
But, I cannot. I do not mix myself up with human matters unless I have to. I have to turn my back on this burning village. I believe it was called Konoha, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, not anymore. By the morning it will be a mess of smouldering wreckage and bodies, I don't want to stick around for that. I'm not looking forward to the paperwork I'll have to fill out either. Especially because the one causing it was a fox named Kyu, one of best friend, Kurama's youngest heirs. She was an adorable one, I didn't expect her to be one who could do this.
I sighed, shaking my head. I can't do anything else here. I should leave, get a headstart on the paperwork and direct the souls that were killed in the early parts of this attack. But I couldn't. It was like a car crash, you couldn't look away no matter how much you wanted. I stared wide-eyed as in a pure white cloud of smoke suddenly appeared, as it faded I saw the toad boss summon. He must be the new one, I hadn't talked to any of the new boss summons, the last toad I met had to be Harkiu when I gave them my blessing to their summon contract. Harkiu was the first toad boss summon, he's probably dead, probably been dead. That must be like, his great-great-grandson.
Squinting, I can make out a blonde man on top of the toad's head, I can see he has a white cloak on, probably not the best of colours in his business. He's making those handseals human shinobi use to channel their chakra. Squinting farther, I notice how familiar those handseals look, what jutsu is that? I see his mouth move, but I'm too far away to hear what is said. As I feel a tug on my stomach and suddenly I'm right behind the blonde man, I realize what jutsu he used.
Is he holding a baby? He's going to seal Kyu in that kid! I look closely at his face, he's crying, a lot. I think the kid is his son. Did he read the seal? The conditions? Anything? Because if he did he'd know that he's gonna die and his kid is gonna die. Maybe that's why he's crying. I sigh as I suck out his soul and his kid's soul, it's not fair. He seemed like a nice guy and the kid was a newborn. I grip Kyu's soul and at the last minute toss her back to my realm, let Kurama chew her out. I turn to leave when a light catches my eye, the seal on the kid's stomach is glowing. That's when I realize something is wrong, very wrong, that's not where that's supposed to go and that swirl? What was he thinking? He altered the seal! I feel myself being pulled towards the seal, I can't do anything, my flailing is not working at all. I sigh once again, shaking my head.I just sealed myself in my own seal.
Dammit.
