A/N: This is a fanfiction I just had the idea for and decided to upload. I will not update this regularly, I'd like to wrap up Galactic High, The Solo Family, maybe do another chapter in My Fantastic Rose, get farther along in The Ghostbusters and the Demon, and most importantly finish my Camp NaNoWriMo novel. So I hope you enjoy chapter one and thanks for reading! By the way, MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SEASONS 5-7!

The Doctor picked up the cold, worn blue book in his warm, callused hands. He brushed the dust off the worn cover and flipped it open. He smiled a sad, knowing smile at the familiar handwriting.

"Oh, Amelia Pond.." he sighed and began to read, the Scottish accent he knew so well filling his mind.

Day One

The Doctor is coming less and less. I miss him, and in a strange way, so does Rory. We know something about the Doctor and his adventures some people don't. Rory and I, we've heard countless tales of Rose and Sarah Jane and Zoe and everyone. After years, he finally told us his life story. We know now.

We've decided to write them down, get them on paper, and add in our own tales. We hope that by leaving the Doctor this book, that we'll write in for the rest of our time with the Doctor, he'll pass it down to his next companion, the new Amy. I've accepted someday this will happen and my Raggedy Man won't be mine anymore.

And that's okay.

So listen, whoever this happens to come to- read our story. Read about this incredible man who has changed and saved so many lives, and remember- just when things get rough, when you begin to think it couldn't be worse, remember- he's out there somewhere. And when things get worse, he'll be by your side.

The Doctor is here.

The Doctor sighed. He couldn't even yell at the Ponds for this ridiculous idea, but he missed them so much. He recalled the moment as Amy stared at the Angel, as she discreetly handed him a book.

"Find Oswin, souffle girl. Don't travel alone. Give her this book." she had said under her breath.

The Doctor knew he had to do it, it had been Amy's last wish. But travelling alone was so much easier. It was easier than having to worry about 2 people he loved dearly all the time.

And he hated himself for thinking that.

Behind him, River smiled darkly and rested a hand on his shoulder, leaning into him and comforting him. As if it weren't bad enough he had to leave behind his family, River had to leave, too.

"Doctor, whenever you need me.." River trailed off, hugging him from behind. He knew. They'd meet again soon, or soon for her. He knew what was coming for her, and in some ways she knew, too.

"River, we don't have much time.. please, travel with me. At least for a day, we can go somewhere you've always wanted to go and have a real, good, proper wedding and-"

"No, Doctor, you know we can't." She smiled, her eyes wet with tears at the thought of leaving the man she loved again in his time of need. "Doctor, don't travel alone. I don't know who Oswin is, but respect Amy's last wish- get yourself a new companion. We all know what happens when you're alone."

The Doctor turned around and hugged Melody. "Goodbye, River. I'll see you soon."

She had already walked out the TARDIS door.
