I saw something like this over on the Sherlock Holmes board and thought it was a fun and challenging way to look at scenes in the episodes. These are all spotlights on scenes between Ginger and Gilligan. Friendship or romance – take them as you will. Thanks to Teobi for beta-reading!

1. Shield

As she clings to his shoulders and breathes, "You saved my life," she wonders whether any other man would have stood between her and a wild lion, and knows that no other could have made that lion lie down on command.

2. Sleight-of-Hand

She stares in astonishment at his grinning face and the flashing, spinning steel four-leafed clover, realizing that he has robbed her as easily as he did the Japanese sailor – and she was not asleep.

3. Failure

Her slim fingers clutch his limp ones, perhaps for the last time, as Kincaid's dark laughter fills the room.

4. Honesty

Her most treasured (and undeserved, she fears) review is contained in a diary that she was never meant to see.

5. Encouragement

"And on the hat, it says Captain!" she says in a moment of impulse, and is rewarded by a smile brighter than the shine of her crystal ball.

6. Tears

She is backstage when she hears Mrs. Howell say softly, "You were so right, dear boy. She deserves the part much more than I," and Cleopatra's black eyeliner is hopelessly ruined.

7. Joy

She cannot contain her laughter, even as the fish swinging wildly overhead threatens to land in her hair.

8. Miscue

It is his mangled line, "There is nothing left for thee but to get thee to a notorary!" that makes her forget her own, and he actually has the nerve to grin at her.

9. Stoic

She is limping as Ugundi pushes her away, and can only stand because the Skipper holds her up.

10. Heat

"I'll bet you played the woman," bursts from his lips, like a plume from an underground hot-spring.

11. Speed

She clutches the blanket around her as her dress pools at her feet, grateful beyond words for his gentlemanliness and his fleetness of foot.

12. Versatile

Slave, messenger, major-domo and maid: she marvels at how he plays four roles better than the Skipper plays just one.

13. Sacrifice

He shuffles in, bearded and shamefaced, to thank her for the gift of her hair, and to ask for a lock of it in remembrance.

14. Embarrassment

Thankfully, neither his towel nor her expression slips as he charges from the girls' hut, no longer wondering why she is wearing "his" clothes.

15. Surprise

His comment, "I think that gorilla's got sailor's blood," nearly makes her turn her back on the beast.

16. Paradox

The duffle-bag dress is like his compliment: innocent and sexy at the same time.

17. Power

As the wild thrumming of his fingers matches the gyrations of her hips, she throws back her head and hears the thunder rumbling.

18. Innocence

He whispers his secret fantasy into her ear; she laughs in delight, and tells him a fairy tale.

19. Numbers

She notices he can no longer keep a straight face around the Skipper or Professor whenever anyone mentions the numbers thirty-six or twenty-two – and neither can she.

20. Goodbye

Sobbing, she realizes that she should have seen his pain was not an act before she twitched the cabinet's curtain shut.
