Eva Rosalene wasn't particularly an apathetic person. When it came to her patients and surrounding friend's feelings, she would certainly come through as one they could count on for support. Her co-worker, Neil, on the other hand, showed a different spectrum of care. She rolled her eyes at his uninterested expression. His crude remarks. The way he laughed at things that could have hurt someone. Eva had long come to shrug in rehearsed annoyance and except this was simply Neil's personality.

However, from time to time - and it became more frequent - she began to see him slip up. He would let out a quick speech of concern, or a tear shed at a patient's death. She looked at this curiously. The doctor began to see her co-worker as an obvious shell. "What are you hiding?" She gathered the nerve to ask. When The brown-haired man frowned so quickly, it caused Eva to feel great worry. He said nothing, told a quick joke, and went on his way.

Soon he fell. The shell was gone, and he had ended up unconscious on the floor. The hospital room had felt so cold. The sheets on his bed were too bleached. With his obscenely opaque glasses now removed, Eva could really see into his eyes.

He did care about others.

But he hid it, to match the fact he hadn't cared about himself.

Eva Rosalene wasn't particularly an apathetic person. When it came to her co-worker Neil, she cared until he was gone.

She cared about him, and she knew he had cared about her too.
