It all kind of started when this boy ,who had just moved into an old house behind mine ,spoke to the fence. The house had been there for quite a while, it seemed as if some family always moved in and left in less than two full years, this was probably the sixth family to have moved in since I was old enough to count and care how many people had lived there. It was a hot day, around the middle of summer. My mother told me to go outside or something so she could clean. She said she'd go see if the new neighbors had any kids my age I could play with if I left her alone while she cleaned, so I went to the back yard to play. I had only ran around the tree for an hour or so, when I heard a loud knock on the tall wooden fence that surrounded my back yard. Me being around only ten at the time, ran to back fence , instantly curious to see who or what made the sound. The side of the fence I was on had the rails on it so I stood on that looking over to see the source. This really little kid was sitting facing the fence with his ear to the wood. all I could really tell from the angle was that he had dark hair and was wearing what looked to be a white hoodie with a black hood and the sleeves torn off, which was dumb anyway way cause it was insanely hot and if you wore it when it was cold, your arms would freeze off or something, well that's what my ten year old brain told me at the time anyway, the kid was also for some reason wearing a shirt with skin tight black sleeves that only reached his upper elbow which made just as much sense as his weird hoodie thing. The kid was whispering to himself, sort of. He was talking to the fence, I think, cause who else was around other than him the fence and me. "Hey! Why are you talking to the fence? that's funny" I smiled at him, and his head just shot up; he looked up with wide slightly annoyed eyes, "It's not funny. The fence says it wants to be a tree again…" the kid looked down slightly, looking just below wear my arms were crossed over the top of the fence. He smiled a little "do you know him?…really? you're not making that up so i'll make more friends…" he made an accused face "I didn't make us move, da-…...eh… whatever, shut up!" the kid looked back up at me "so, I don't believe the fence anymore. what's your name?" I didn't understand half of what he was talking about before, so I just gave him a blank stare trying to figure out what he was talking about . "oh yeah I should tell you my name. I'm Jonathan but my friends usually call me Jon" he offered me a light smile, his big dark blue eyes weren't very light, he still looked a little annoyed but I was pretty sure it wasn't at me. I returned the smile with a much larger one, my curly dusty brown hair falling into my eyes as I continued to look down at him. " you know what that's really weird my name's Joshua, we both have 'J's, that's so cool!" Jon winced it looked like at how loud I talked but I didn't care all too much, he looked really cute and maybe we could be really good friends. "heh, umm yeah, so Joshua… do you want to be friends" Jon looked into my eyes, patiently waiting for an answer. "REALLY?! Yes, I'd love to be your friend!" I gave him a goofy smile… this was the start to a beautiful friendship.
So… yeah, I highly doubt that anyone will ever read this but if anyone does, just review telling me what you liked or disliked or even if you want another chapter… peace crumbs.
