Okay so this is my first Fanfic, so I thought I'd start off with a one-shot to get the ball rolling and introduce my writing style.
For this one I was thinking about the song and it's purpose (How when something really tragic happens to you and everyone's really nice to you but it doesn't really help and your still sad) and I thought it really felt how George might have felt afterwards. Anyways, enjoy! :)
I Think It's Going to Rain Today
It was over. The battle was over and Voldemort was dead. But so was Fred. And everyone was coming up to George telling him "Sorry," and "It'll be okay," and the like. But all that did was remind him about what he had lost. All he really wanted was to have Fred back with him. All of their apologies didn't help. It was nice but, it really didn't help the situation. It just left him feeling lonely.
As George walked around the ruined corridors of Hogwarts he remembered the fun times of pranking and messing with all years. He walked up to the Gryffindor common room and the Fat Lady let him in with no password, seeing as it didn't exactly matter at the moment, and he walked around the familiar room which seemed untouched from the battle with no one in it. He saw the fire lit in front of where he sat with his friends and Fred talking about the day's activities and the latest Quidditch match and the one soon to come. He saw the table in the corner where he had sat with Fred making merchandise for their joke shop, with help from Harry's winnings, planning their future with the shop.
He looked up at the high ceiling looking towards Fred and imagined him looking back down. His eyes filled slightly with tears as he thought. But he was almost certain they wouldn't spill. He had done enough crying for the day.
"Well, Freddy, I guess that was good-bye. I hope you have fun up there with Tonks and Remus and tell them not to worry, I know Teddy's in good hands with the soon to be married, Harry and Ginny. Ron and Hermione are finally going to be together like we always knew." He said the last line with a slight smile which seemed like a stranger on his face.
"I hope you don't mind if I comfort Angelina, you know she really liked you. I figured she would at least feel a little better seeing your face again." He said, his smile faltering. "I was wondering if you wouldn't mind if I… kind of took of your job as her boyfriend."
And suddenly it seemed like he heard Fred's voice whisper, "You can,"
George looked around quickly and then back up and smiled. "Thank you," he whispered and he looked out the window where the sky was streaked with a cloudy, sad grey as he whispered, "I think it's going to rain today."
