A/N: Happy Mother's Day!
This story is dedicated to my mother ~
Dear Mom,
Happy Mother's Day. I'm writing you this letter, though I know you won't be able to read it, as a symbol of my gratitude and appreciation.
I just want you to know that I miss you. It's been so long, I know, but everyday I still think about you and everything you and Dad did for me when you were still here.
I will always hold the both of you in my heart.
Memories of what used to be keep materializing in my thoughts, and sometimes I just feel like breaking into a million pieces. But I won't, because I know you would want me to be strong.
Oh! And I've met a girl. I really like her, and I know that you would've liked her too.
Her personality reminds me so much of you. Bubbly, ambitious, selfless, kind-hearted, and everything in between.
The way she smiles no matter how bleak the future seems, the way she always looks at the bright side of every situation, and her laugh. Oh, God. Her laugh. That's the best part. It's the sweetest song I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.
Listening to it makes me think about you. I relive the times when we shared laughs and smiles together when I'm with her.
I just thought about my first lesson in acrobatics, when Dad was showing me the basics. Remember? I looked so awkward, and you laughed at my silly little mistakes. Embarrassing as it was, I laughed it off. Just like you.
To be honest, I hear your laughter in Starfire's. And that's one of the reasons why I like her. Because she reminds me so much of home, where my heart belongs.
Mom, I really miss you. I do. I miss you so much that it hurts. But she keeps me sane, and I love how she always helps me through my problems, whatever they may be. Heck, she was the one that gave me the idea of writing you this letter to show you that I haven't forgotten.
Well, that's all I have to say for now. I love you, and I miss you. Always.
Your son,
Richard John Grayson
Robin smiled as he sealed his heart-felt letter into a fresh envelope. As he heard stirring near his doorway, the Boy Wonder turned to find Starfire beaming at him, that lovely smile of hers embellishing her beautiful features.
"Are you ready?" she asked, gesturing to her own envelope in her delicate hands.
"More than I'll ever be."
