CHAPTER ONE

Alexis' POV

I had been glancing across the room, at him, the boy who made me heart pound. He had black hair and dark brown eyes, and he wore the Lightwood ring on his hand. 'Danny.' I thought. I couldn't stop thinking about him. The thing that snapped me back to reality was our teacher's voice. "Alright! We begin training, now!"

I jumped into the air, dodging the daggers that were flung at me by our teacher. I grabbed a bow and some arrows once Molly, the girl who got everything she wanted, threw a throwing star at me. I ducked in time, and I saw my targets ahead of me. I ran through the agility course and shot them. I dropped my weapon, grabbed a sword, and clashed it with Danny's.

He came at me first, so I took it as a challenge. He smirked at me, a look on his face that said 'I'm glad you're not a coward'. We went through the sword fighting routine, and once we finished, our teacher, Mrs. Fray, said well done. Training was officially over, and Danny walked over to me. "Nice sword-fighting." he said as he smiled at me.

"Thanks, you too. My name's Alexis." I said, holding out my hand.

He shook it while introducing himself. I saw Molly out of the corner of my eye, gossiping about me to her friends. I looked back at Danny, who was gagging at the sight of her. I smirked as he looked back at me. "So, Alexis, wanna hang out in the greenhouse later?"

"Sure, but can we eat lunch first?" I replied.

"Great! I'll go pack lunch, so that we can eat there."

He flashed me another crooked, but beautiful smile. He walked out of the room as I made my way to the greenhouse. About 10 minutes later, He walked in with a picnic basket. I glanced at it and gave him a look. "What? I thought I'd go a little more old fashioned." He said as he sat next to me.

I rolled my eyes as he handed me a bottle of water, a turkey sandwich, and some slices of cucumber. "Thanks." I said as I bit into the sandwich.

"No problem!" He replied after he swallowed a piece of cucumber.

I laughed at him, because he made a goofy face at me. 'This is gonna be a great friendship' I thought once he laughed also. I stuck my tongue out at him, resulting in him chasing me.
